I have been strictly a Firefox user for the most part with Opera being my alternative browser over the years. Since Opera uses Chrome's engine now I'm going to start using Chrome instead. I found replacement extensions for ABP, Ghostery, and WOT. I still need replacement extensions for the following extensions below. I see many listed in the Chrome Web Store, but I don't know how well they perform.

    NoScript
    FlagFox
    Calomel SSL Validation

You can replace NoScript with uMatrix. I don't know about the other two.

Yeah, I was gonna say you can replace NoScript with uMatrix and if you need help with anything please PM me I would be obliged to help with anything. :thumb:Also you can replace Calomel SSL Validation with HTTPS Everywhere < https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/https-everywhere/gcbommkclmclpchllfjekcdonpmejbdp >

You could try Yandex browser, it is also Chrome based, and you can use Opera and Chrome extensions.

I don't want to use HTTPS everywhere, but UMatrix may be an option. Too many sites break (for lake of a better term) when forcing them to use HTTPS. I use to use HTTPS everywhere, but I had too many issues. That also really concerns me with Mozilla, and Google's recent announcement to force sites to use HTTPS. If they do there will be a period of having a troublesome internet until site owners make their sites work with HTTPS . Also I don't consider HTTPS everywhere a replacement for Calomel SSL Validation since Calomel also provides the user with other information.

I'm already using UBlock Origin with Chrome. If I use UMatrix do I need both?

You can use UBlock origin by itself or uMatrix by itself or use them both together, I would recommend using them both together and if that dont work you could just use UBlock Origin with dynamic filtering that is like an adblocker+NoScript < https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-quick-guide >

    ScriptBlock | HTTP Switchboard
(nothing compares to FF NoScript imo)

I would not recommend HTTP Switchboard it is undeveloped now as Gorhill has replaced it with uMatrix.

I have been unable to use uMatrix so far. It blocks most of the content of the sites I visit, or it breaks functionality of the site. I can't even watch a video on youtube. It blocks the video from even loading. Anyone know what might need to be adjusted in the settings?

Go to the "My Rules" tab of uMatrix and click edit and then hit ctrl+a and then backspace and copy and paste this in here(just to note I use my uMatrix in a way more locked down fashion I am just giving these to you because it will automatically make a lot of websites work with a little work and still block a lot):

    matrix-off: chrome-scheme true
    matrix-off: chromium-behind-the-scene true
    matrix-off: localhost true
    matrix-off: opera-scheme true

...How did you use NoScript that didn't break as many websites?

Anyhow, tell us if your other requirements were met by the links I posted.

I whitelisted sites with NoScript that required java script to function properly. I can't even figure out what module in uMatrix is blocking the websites functionality. I just found the logging in uMatrix, and changed it to only log blocked events. That should help me narrow it down. I hope so anyways. I already installed the other country flag addon. I saw the one you just listed as well. I will try it next to see which on I like best. I can experiment around right now because I will be rolling back my image in a few days. I will learn which addons I like best now so I don't have any traces of the other addons I have tried after I decide which one's i'm going to use in the long run.

I'm able to watch you tube videos now, but I can't comment on them. The box appears, and I can type my comment in the box, but the post button does not respond. If I try clicking on it its like clicking on a blank screen. I get no feedback from the button at all. This is not being caused by uMatrix though. I have the same thing happen with Firefox with all addons disabled. The only browser that has allowed me to comment on videos so far has been IE. Surely Chromes internal POP-UP Blocker is not blocking the post comment button. It's all really strange to me.

    Add this to your rules:
    • * google.com frame allow
    • * google.com script allow
    • * google.com xhr allow

Thank You! I will try adding that as well after i'm finished with my work. uMatrix isn't blocking the post button to comment on Youtube videos though AFAIK.

Most likely it is, I would doubt it is Chrome.
