It doesn't work on first run, you need to continue with the installation and you can tick it afterwards.

What installation? Both programs seem to be running. What can I do to "continue with the installation". Sorry, I didn't get it.

Hm, I re-entered my key, but the tickbox is still greyed out. Strange.

If I remember correctly, when you run the HitmanPro installer, you get the choice to only scan once, or to install the program. For enabling Shell Integration, HitmanPro needs to be installed.
Did you install HitmanPro? If you did, and still Shell Integration cannot be enabled, there seems to be some problem. In that case, perhaps Erik or Mark can help.

    Edit:
Ah, yes, where I said HitmanPro needs to be installed for enabling Shell Integration, I think BoerenkoolMetWorst is right,

This is the solution to my problem, Stupendous Man. It is actually true that I didn't install the program, I was just running it. It seems to be installed now, and the shell integration tickbox is NOT greyed out. Thank you very much for your help. Problem solved!:thumb:

Yes, BoerenkoolMetWorst is absolutely right, but I didn't understand his post when I first read it. Now I know what he was talking about. Thank you all for your help. Much appreciated.

yes, I kept minidump. if you'd like via pm let me know, or how ever you get data like that. I need to check but I may have changed one or two security apps since the BSOD. fwiw, I was using mbae when it was still zerovul..labs beta, and IIRC, I had mbae installed but not running when I had the BSOD coincidental with hmpa3_181. I had some issues with most of the hmpa3 betas I tried, but again, with different combos of security apps. what I like with current setup on xp is smooth and stable. I have paid versions of hmp & mbae, so I'm happy to try hmpa3 again, but I've been jammed with other projects, so the stability for the moment "relaxes" me.

and since erik seemed concerned enough to ask, I just installed hmpa3_build_183. I did uninstall mbae, (have not changed my wilders' sig yet) and put outpost into learning mode. IIRC last time I had BSOD with build_181, the xp was essentially idle... in the morning I was greeted with a BSOD. For now, 183 installed ok, opened 2 browsers, no real side effects from hmpa other than onscreen text display is sometimes a tad slow, but not annoying (yet), overall there is a very slight slowdown with apps opening, web pages loading, but subtle and not annoying. assuming that all hmpa protections are operational, the very slight slowdown is acceptable to me. So far, the only real test is sending this post with hmpa running. (ha, just noticed one anomaly, tried to insert a smilie icon and the selection box does not open -- yikes makes me wonder what's going on in the background when I do select a smilie icon :-/

Yes, I checked the corresponding event viewer events. What the critical element that was missing was the URL that triggered the detection. Your product is superior to some hardware of Microsoft based Exploit Prevention Mechanisms. Without going into details, HMP.Alert did protect my PC quickly (Shut down the program and initiated a scan). It just did not list the source of the code (URL, domain, IP, what component it was (HTML, XSS, etc). I understand this may not be the point of your product, but it may be useful in general. I can understand if it can be hard to balance logging vs protection.

Thanks for saving me from having to re-mediate the damage though :)

Ah, on second look my wording wasn't very clear, but I'm glad it works now.

Dutch Computer Magazine "Computer!Totaal" (May 2015) has a long and interesting interview with Mark Loman, about the history of SurfRight, HitmanPro and HitmanPro.Alert etc.
Really nice interview, Mark. Bedankt! (Thanks!)

I am not sure whether the article is online. I couldn't find it at www.computertotaal.nl . But maybe I didn't search good enough.
So, Dutchies, in case you are interested: hurry. Maybe you can still buy the magazine in the shop; on 15 May the next magazine comes out.

Nogmaals bedankt, Mark! (Thanks again, Mark!)

PS: edited to add: of course thanks to Erik as well.

My Operating System is Windows XP Professional SP3, 32 bit.

Today I downloaded, have not installed, Hitman Pro.Alert 3.0.38.183. Before I install the program I wanted to ask those much more knowledgeable than me if I would have problems with my already installed security programs.

I have: 1) Norton AntiVirus (pd), 2) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium (pd), 3) Zemana AntiLogger (pd), 4) ZoneAlarm Firewall (free) and WinPatrol Plus (pd).

I would appreciate hearing from members currently running Hitman Pro.Alert and any of the above security programs. As always I will appreciate all replies and would thank you in advance.

    John

Hi John, I'm currently running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium (real-time) and Hitman Pro.Alert 3.0.38.183 without any problems. Hope this helps.

    HitmanPro.Alert 3 Buid 187 BETA

We've made quite a few improvements related to BadUSB and Keystroke Encryption. Looking forward to receiving your findings.

    Changelog (compared to build 183)
    • Added application exclusion to Exploit mitigations. Scroll to the far right on the 'Your applications' panel to access this new feature, which should only be used for rare occasions when an application is incompatible with Alert's library.
    • Improved CryptoGuard mitigation.
    • Improved BadUSB compatibility with OEM keyboards.
    • Improved BadUSB compatibility with the Surface Home Button on Microsoft Surface Pro tablets.
    • Improved BadUSB compatibility with keyboards with macro functionality.
    • Improved Keystroke Encryption which sometimes dropped out after using Windows-key.
    • Improved compatibility with Microsoft Office add-ins based on .NET, e.g. gSyncit.
    • Improved Network Lockdown compatiblity with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Web Access Control driver on Windows 8.
    • Improved Software Radar to detect web browsers that do not immediately register themselves as browser upon installation, e.g. Cyberfox.
    • Improved Dynamic Heap Spray mitigation.
    • Improved compatibility with Trusteer Rapport.
    • Improved VBScript God Mode mitigation (part of Application Lockdown).
    • Fixed Application Lockdown false positive on SharePoint based websites.
    • Fixed rare BSOD in HitmanPro.Alert driver.
    • Updated language strings.

Please let me know how this build runs on your computer :thumb:

Is there a way to reset "aantal meldingen"?

About the Dutch article in Computer!Totaal:
Thanks Gerard. Somehow I was expecting that.

    Agreed.

I just installed 183 +18 hours ago, and no real problems on xp (yet) :) (xref BSOD 2 wks ago w/181) (and right now even the wilder smilie icons are working!) I haven't read all 5598 previous posts, so assuming 183 stays trouble-free for the next day or 2, and I want to try 187 beta, do I uninstall 183 or just install 187 over 183? thanks! (any installation distinction between public releases and betas?) the only thing I've noticed running 183 is a very slight slowdown but not enough to be annoying AND occasional intermittent "balk" -- like a temp freeze or lockup, but haven't been able to pinpoint it to any particular app (yet), and when it happens it lasts a few seconds, about the time that I get concerned the system normalizes.
