Do I just remove all mentions of doubleclick.net or is there a reason for them being blocked. Do youtube ads use tracking cookies or something? Is there no way just to allow the ads without having to worry about that stuff. I'm assuming the ads do something negative otherwise there's no reason to block them since this isn't advertised for ad blocking.
As far as I'm aware, SpywareBlaster does not block youtube adds. I suspect a browser extension or the way it's set up. Which browser do you use and please include any extensions?
I've gotten around it but I was having the problem on IE (no add ons or extensions) as well as Firefox which had a few. I knew my Firefox addons would interfere so I was already looking for that what surprised me was the Hosts file also blocked the ads. It definitely was in the hosts file because I reset the Hosts file back to default and the ads started showing up again. The only way I've seem to be able to get around it is by downloading hostsman and adding exclusions to the advertisers sites. My only conclusion is that either it was SpywareBlaster or Win8 that added the entries. I mean I assume you're using SpywareBlaster aswell so can you get YouTube ads to play on videos? If you can then my second question would be what OS are you using?
You can check my signature. As far as I understand, SpywareBlaster only populates the blocked third-party cookie lists + some ActiveX controls on some sites. I'm not interested in seeing any ads, youtube or anywhere else for that matter. In IE I have AdBlock Plus and have ActiveX filtering enabled. In Firefox and Chrome I also have ABP and Ghostery so no ads. Perhaps someone else can comment.
Hi. SpywareBlaster 5.0 does not add entries to the HOSTS file, so it shouldn't be capable of causing what you are describing. Please check with the other security software you have installed. It is likely that something else is modifying the HOSTS file.
