So according the author of the review site above, version 2 of Mailbird now encrypts the traffic it's fetching. Does it change anything? Not really, I don't think they should collect information without asking. No more Mailbird on me.

I have been using Mailbird for over an year now and I love it. But recently the same article/review mantioned above gave birth to some security concerns about Mailbird. Hope someone here could give more insights about this.

A conversation between mailbird and the author on twitter : https://twitter.com/getmailbird/status/536691613729185793

People (and even large companies) have moved on to webmail.
Does Mailbird support webmail? If so, which ones.

I can't seem to find much information on the website.

    updated about 2.0

    quote:

Few days ago Mailbird v2 has been released.

First of all let me say that it’s kinda sad that your privacy is always the last thing companies care about. It’s never granted, you have to fight for it!

I’m happy to see that they finally encrypted the data! It is not clear what data they send to themselves, but I’m pretty sure they are still collecting your email address, name and user session (so they can track your habits). They also collect usage statics to “improve user experience”.

The security issue about Mailbird is so lowered to DEFCON 2, but still the fact that there’s no way to opt-out and that they do not make it clearer what data they are collecting bothers me.

If it wasn’t for this post nobody would know what Mailbird was collecting and probably your data would still be sent over a clear connection. Honestly a company so desperate about my data and so secretive about what they are collecting is not worth my trust

You can now opt out of sharing statistics in Mailbird.

The website takes forever to load. Not sure how I feel about the client now....
Seems like UI is mostly Windows oriented too.

It's only available for Windows, so I guess that's why.

The damage has already been done, they should have thought about this earlier.

It supports all webmail which allows IMAP POP access. Most common providers like gmail, outlook, yahoo, aol etc are autoconfigured. You just have to login using your password.

I recently got an account at protonmail.ch. So far they have the best and most secure webmail platform. The UI is great, ad free and uncluttered. mailbox is further encrypted by a mailbox password.

    Thanks.

I did try it, but Outlook.com was too slow for me using it.

Is there an EASY way to transfer Thunderbird contacts and emails over to Mailbird now? I had tried it earlier and could not. No good to me unless I can transfer present mail info.

^When Trial Pro ends, it converts to LITE, displaying ads and limiting your accounts to 1.

    Back to EMclient.
