i am trying to make a bootable USB for windows vista 32 bit with this. It will not work. It will work on my windows 7 64 bit. It should work on 32 and 64 bit shouldn't it?

It has to be a USB as the c drive in the 32 bit is not working. It is a Vaio vgn nr11z/s. if anyone can help i would appreciate it. Or tell me of any Program I can boot from a USB on on this laptop

Isn't your OS on C: drive? If you select to use a USB flash drive instead of an ISO it should search/find any plugged in.

It´s not clear to me if you are able to create the ISO file. If you are, create the ISO and then use Rufus, https://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US, to create the UFD.

I've used both so unsure why UltraISO didn't work for you.

Here are what i get when i try with rufus and with ultra iso.

Ultra iso says warning usb disk created may not boot. The 32 bit won't on the 32 bit vista. The 64 bit version will on the 64 bit windows 7

Are you trying to create a Linux boot UFD? To create a Linux boot medium, don´t use Recovery Media Builder. Go to the installation folder and look for the ISO image, C:\Program Files\... Your program...\iso.

There are two ISOs, 32 and 64 bit. Point Rufus to either one, and create the UFD.

You are using the correct ISO, but you´re right, there´s a problem.

I just tried Rufus 2.1 and Paragon HDM 15 in Windows 7 x64. It worked with the bootcd_x64.iso but with the bootcd.iso (32 bit) it produced the error you posted. Possibly another bug in these Paragon programs.

You could try with Rescue Kit 14 Free Edition.

The Rescue Kit can create boot media for 32 or 64 bits. I tried with the 32-bit Linux ISO and Rufus and got the same error. Then tried creating directly the Linux UFD from the Recovery Media Builder (x86) and the process finished without errors. I haven´t tried to boot from the UFD.

Next time they check in I hope they address the problem with the 32-bit Linux ISO and Rufus.

I am curious. What is the difference between the Linux ISO and the Linux UFD from the Recovery Media Builder (x86)

The following refers to my experience with x64, not with x86.

The "format" of the Linux ISO produced by RMB is not compatible with Rufus. I have used Rufus with many different ISOs, and have found this problem only with the Paragon ISOs.

The RMB can create a UFD directly. However, when I tried to boot this computer (Windows 7 x64) from one UFD created in this way, the boot process froze. This happened one or two times several months ago, when I tried this. This suggests that the problem is not with Rufus, something is wrong with the RMB procedures. Further, in my experience, this only happens when you select BIOS in the RMB. It´s different when you select UEFI.

So, according to my experience with x64, the summary is: To create a Linux boot UFD for a BIOS x64 system, I can´t use the RMB. I have to use the x64 ISO image that is in the installation folder, and build the UFD with Rufus.

You can use the RMB created ISO to burn a CD/DVD with ImageBurn, correct? You mean a USB flash drive fails to boot, correct?

I suppose the ISO created with RMB can be used to burn a boot CD with ImgBurn, I haven´t tried. I haven´t used boot CDs in some time, not practical.

Yes, the UFD fails to boot. This refers to a Linux x64 boot UFD, created with RMB and for BIOS. It doesn´t matter if the UFD is created in this computer or in another laptop, so the problem is related to RMB.

I can make a bootable usb with ultra iso from the ISO 64 in installation folder on my Win7 64 bit and it boots the 32 bit vista. But trying to do that with the boot iso beside it in the installation folder gives error may not be bootable in ultra iso.it won't boot

I'm not sure what that "bootcd.iso" is as its much smaller in size but if you can create a bootable USB flash drive from the "bootcd_x64.iso", isn't that enough?
