It looks like the landscape has changed significantly since the last 'free for business use' security thread thread. I am mainly looking for anti-malware / antivirus tools for Small Office / Home Office (SOHO). Obviously we do not want an 'A vs B' thread but a basic features list would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any contributions to the thread.

    Hi,

Avast has quietly released the first cloud managed multi-platform business security offering for free. It’s called Avast for Business.

From my side of the fence Avast Business Security with cloud management (Free) is excellent. I now have it installed on 40 endpoints & four servers @ three of our sites & have nothing but praise for the product.

Not only excellent Grade A+++ protection with the Hardened Mode Advanced module enabled, but also with all security settings at max our workstations are still lightning fast, 20MB memory footprint, 25% CPU load when manually scanning.

All in all I will have saved a couple of thousand Euros this year on licensing by moving over to this solution without degrading any security areas. If anything we have raised our protection bar as from the two months trial on my test network no new malware samples we threw at it got through.

Coupled with the support we get from Luke & his team here IMO you can’t go wrong. Also if you head over to the Avast forums you don’t see many winges (caused mainly through users misconfigurations) about it either, which isn’t bad for a nouveau concept.

Sophos ESC and Avast Cloud Business seem to be the only two out there. I much prefer Sophos at this point, but Avast is maturing nicely.

Do you have a link to the Sophos ESC page? I cannot find it. Also, the Sophos ESC is allowed for small business use? Thanks
