Recently I had downloaded AVG and used it until I had a chance to purchase and download the one I wanted. Then I went to delete the AVG because I found it a bit controlling, that was not easy to do as AVG did its best to stay. Finally I thought I had it all removed, I used the Advanced Uninstaller Pro and it said that alsso removed all the little tidbits that will remain. Two weeks later I am doing a new backup and I see AVG is being backed up! It was in the Program Files (x86). Now then I tried to delete The AVG that was there, but it told me i needed permission to do that. That is the reason I am here looking for help. I am using Windows 7 Home Pro.

You could boot into Safe Mode and delete the file there.

+1, you need to reboot into safe mode and run their uninstaller although I cannot guarantee success. If it were my system, I'd format it if it had AVG before hand before installing any other AV but that's just me as I'm a perfectionist

It the AVG Remover tool not works, try the following:

    1) ESET AV Remover tool
The ESET AV Remover tool will remove almost any antivirus software previously installed on your system.
