Just an update. I noticed on one of my sites I log on-to every once in awhile via SSL. Internet Explorer 11 was freezing up upon visiting attempt. Just uninstalled the MS Update KB3033929 and chosen to hide it. That's where this MS patch will remain! ;)

you mean more and more bloat......now when I install Firefox, I have to:

    1) Install Classic Theme Restorer add-on

    2) Install Classic Toolbars Button add-on

    3) Disable OneClick Search

    4) Disable Heartbeats rating

    5) Hide the stupid chat feature

    6) Hide the share this page

    7) Disable the Firefox Health / Crash Reporting

Please Mozilla, give us more bloat....

Looks like too much trouble to update. I think I'll wait and keep what I have 36.0.4. It's working fine.

Why dont you save yourself the hassle and install an older version of firefox and disable the internal updater..?

    Just a suggestion.:thumb:

what about security risks? Isn't it always essential to stay on the latest browser for security reasons? I wish Pale Moon didn't break have the web as the interface is the same as the old one and works out of the box the way I like it, but many addons and sites are not compatible so I have to do the above manually.

There have been significant security fixes/enhancements as Firefox has progressed and a number of important ones in FF v37 specifically. If those core improvements can be had in other builds such as Cyberfox then no problem, but otherwise I would just disable/change the annoyances.

I don't know what's the use of this HTML player but I use the YouTube Flash Video Player addon for Firefox that forces Flash instead of HTML. Reason being is I use a program called Internet Download Manager to download videos I watch. Now in HTML5, Internet Download Manager only gives me 1 quality to download, basically it gives no options when you download. But if I use the youTube Flash Player instead of HTML5, then when I hit the download button in IDM it presents me with various quality levels of that video so I can choose which quality to download.

The latest version of IDM coupled with FF 37 gives you the same multiple download options on youtube HTML5 videos as with Flash videos. But I am with you on the choice. I currently prefer Flash over HTML5 in Firefox.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of annoyances and privacy features and how to disable them? I've just reinstalled Firefox and would like to make it as tight as possible. Thanks.

mantra, I haven't been able to update my wife's laptop as well. Perhaps the servers are overloaded, with Firefox 37 and Firefox ESR 31.6.0 desktop & mobile downloads.
