Oh, I forgot to explain Always On Mode, my bad. In Always On Mode all protection mechanisms that the user has enabled in the settings will be active, and protecting the system at all times. There is no toggling of the protection from ON to OFF, or OFF to ON. It makes no difference whether the user is using an application on the Web Apps list. The protection is enabled at all times. The Developer Dan may be able to give you a better explanation. Maybe he will swing by later tonight.

After an update to WSA this morning [12 hrs ago], and a reboot later, I have now gotten a sluggish mouse response, and increased CPU cycles in VS 2.31f...Finally got the mouse to shutdown VS.

System now running oK, after exiting VS. It took a awhile, to get control back.

Likewise, here other than I have an unexplained 'glitch' when VS will not respond at all...cursor becomes a circle, i.e.e, sign that some thing is processing, right clicking on icon yields NO results and generally responses are slow. Logging out and then logging back in again seems to clear it. Have not yet managed to find out how to reproduce but am working on it. I suspect that it is an issue with a specific app I have installed on my system rather than something underlying in VS.

Will post back as and when I manage to reproduce the 'critter' at will.

    Regards, Baldrick

    Hi Daniel

Thanks for the heads up. Shall wait patiently for a future update and see if that has sorted what I am having trouble in putting my finger on.

    Regards, Baldrick

Hey everyone, here is the latest beta. It is pretty much ready for public release. I figured out the obfuscator, so I think you will see some significant performance increases.

BTW, I am not going to add any new features for a couple of weeks until we are 100% sure all of the bugs are worked out. I think they pretty much are, but please let me know if you find anything!

I will catch up on the posts I missed tonight or tomorrow, sorry, I have been busy. Thank you!

Your description reads similar to mine with g
Alert dialog became unresponsive to my clicking Block. Had the spinning wheel....VS shut down like a buffer had filled. Clicking desktop shortcut returned system tray Icon and VS appeared normal.

    Hi Dan

Thanks, 'h' installed on both systems here, with a clean install 'a le Triple Helix'... ;)...and everything seems to be working fine at the moment. Having said that have you removed the progress bar...as I have not noticed it activating as it did before...and in a a way I quite liked?

    Regards, Baldrick

Curious, how does VS know Firefox is open (VS toggles Blue) when, I'm opening FF sandbox'd.

H is working great. But i do still get command line block when i launch Internet Explorer while VS is locked. Same for Filehippo Update Checker. Both seem to work fine even with command line block message. Also, i don't see any blocks in user log

    Hi Dan

Bit of good news - since ver g and now h the issue with Otter seems to be cured. Well done with that.

    Suggestion:

Maybe it would be an idea to incorporate some kind of statistics into the GUI. Something along the lines of a section that shows the following or similar:

    Number of threats detected
    Number of suspicious activities blocked

Then maybe anything else you can think of. It would be handy to be able to mention these when recommending VS to other users.

    Examples from other software:

    Stats 1.jpg

    Stats 2.jpg

Further update: I have VS delayed starting at boot [by 4min 30 sec], via WinPatrol. This has made a difference, for the better!

FWIW ~ I have VS Startup Disabled via W8 Task Manager. Startup Impact = High by TM. I can feel the difference. For me...I prefer to manually invoke VS by the Desktop shortcut.
FWIW ~ I've observed VS 2.31h holding Blue after browser close.

Same here. I disabled (unchecked) start with windows in the basic settings and now start vs manually after xp reboots. And saw vs "holding_blue" in g after using usb, and in h after closing thunderbird. expecting to see fix next beta per Dan.

    Hi Dan,
    Running 2.31h beta.
The gui opening seems to be slower than it was in 2.31g for me. Also when booting up the progress bar now only flashes on for an instant then disappears quickly.
This beta doesn't seem to be running as smooth as recent previous versions particularly 2.30.

How did you accomplish this? When it try to put it into delayed start, I get a message from WinPatrol that VoodooShield has put itself back in Startup Programs Menu, which it does.

Do you see "holding_blue" as may be related to SBoxie run.
