Rollback Restore to Boot is the same as Shadow Defender?
    Is it stable & reliable?

    Shadow Defender is paid.
    Rollback is free.

How does it compare with Shadow Defender?

Is it something like imaging applications? I use EaseUS Todo Backup Free v8 for system and files backup. Do you think that the Rollback has any benefits over classic backup/imaging applications?

ShadowDefender is quite reliable, where is Rollback Restore from??

Pegas. They are not at all the same. They may work together but ShadowDefender in no way replaces imaging.

Well now knowing what it is there are huge differences between Rollback and SD. They have been pretty well documented here.

I think Reboot Restore is designed for public computers. It will automatically restore your settings every time you restart your computer. Rollback RX is an imaging program that will save and restore images based on you selecting when. The home addition is the same as Rollback RX but it limits the amount on images it saves (I think).

I'm sorry, but from what I've read in several forums, Rollback RX is NOT an imaging program. It is a rollback program, not an imaging program. Telling someone to use Rollback RX for imaging is a mistake. From everything I've read, with Rollback RX you absolutely also need to use a separate imaging program.

What is the purpose of Rollback Rx if it is not a replacement of an imaging application? I thought that it is equal which one is used.

You are right my error. They are snapshot programs. They do not create images like a true backup program would do.

Tried and removed rx....Uses a ridiculous amount of space for its snapshots...I prefer the economy of Macrium lol.

First off, thank you for your interest in our product! It's important to note that RollBack Rx isn't an imaging product – it's sector-mapping/snapshot software.

You're right that Shadow Defender is paid, and RollBack Rx Home Ed. is free. Shadow Defender is actually more along the lines of VMware. It creates that digital sandbox that you can play around with. RollBack Rx Home Edition is there to essentially create seven snapshots which you can then go back or forward to. That makes it quite versatile. Although I can see how someone could, on the surface, view the products as similar, but in all fairness they are actually quite different.

In the end Shadow Defender will go back to whatever state you were at once you end the VM session. RollBack Rx allows you to move between seven different states, and if you were say interested in unlimited snapshots, you could talk to me about the paid version. That said, we believe in this freeware being functional and I think you'll find through its use that there's a lot you can benefit from. If you would like to purchase the full version, you can always email me and I can find you a fair pricing option.

At the very least, check out our forums. They are an excellent source for knowledge by a lot of great community members and staff such as myself. I will be posting a more detailed posting regarding the differences in these programs in the next little while, so stay tuned!

Rollback Rx Home Edition is a different product.

And Rollback Restore to Boot is a different product.
    Its similar to Shadow Defender.
And Shadow Defender has a very good reputation.
I wanted to know how Restore to Boot compares with Shadow Defender?
And how stable & reliable Restore to Boot is?

OK folks, being a layman who doesn't understand difference between imaging and sector mapping what would you recommend me as a precaution against Win (fatal) crashes? I'm using EaseUS Todo Backup Free v8.2 for system and files backups. Is it enough?

At bare minimum, you need to back up your system (image backup) and you need to back up your files (file backup). (This assumes that you keep your files separate from your system drive.) Some people recommend multiple backup solutions. They would recommend 2 image solutions and 2 file backup solutions. Actually, that's what I do and recommend. I use Macrium Reflect and AX64 for "imaging" (some would question how reliable AX64 is) and I backup my files to an external HD and I back them up via the cloud (Mozy).

Thanks Alex. So taking into account what you said and considering the capabilities of EaseUS Todo Backup I should be at bare minimum. :)

    @pegas

I am using EaseUS Todo Backup Advanced Server a bit of different animal than FREE.

I suggest different partitions for OS & data. For OS backup in EaseUS take SYSTEM not FILE backups. Now heres a tricky bit. Don't think FREE restores to different hardware. So you'll only be protected for software failure not hardware. And a backup solution is only ponies, unicorns & rainbows without testing it.

So with FREE to verify your image will restore you'll have to overwrite your current OS. I suggest after taking a SYSTEM backup to external media. Then add a text file on your current OS titled Original Source OS or something. So after a successful restore (hopefully) if text file Original Source OS is missing & everything works you've successfully verified your software not hardware backup solution.

I do encourage you though to find a solution that restores to different hardware. Good luck & I take no responsibility for your pc, yada, yada, yada.

Yes, I have, c:/ for system and d:/ for data.
    I'm doing so.
That's enough for me. I use only laptops and if one dies (assuming it doesn't happen shortly after buying what luckily never happened yet) I go and buy last model that is a hardware different than my previous laptop. Considering that laptops have OEM OS systems, drivers and so on, I wouldn't take OS from previous machine to the new one.
OMG, definitely not. I'm not so skilled (and hence brave) to play with it. :)

When not if trouble comes you might the weak link. Because of lack of experience. Better to pick a time when you have time to garner experience so you're ready.
