To be honest, I personally wouldn't trust this stuff. On the other hand, I do know that the developer of Neoava Guard (HIPS which I used for years) started the Sheed AV project, also from Iran, and that seems to be quite a serious product.

Hi, well actually i might be more inclined to trust something/s from Iran, rather than the USA or Israel, or somewhere else ! As you mentioned, Neoava Guard was trusted & very well liked on here. It's a pity that it folded !

If i can locate the DL link on the padvysh www, i might install it in a few days & see how it fares. Nobody else has so far ?

Iranian engineers have managed to develop an antivirus which can compete with foreign rivals, the Mehr News Agency reported.

The Padvish antivirus is also an anti-malware which can protect computer networks.

The software is being used in a number of organizations and will be offered to home users in the near future.

The Islamic republic has been a target of several major cyber attacks in recent years.

In 2010, Iran's industrial and nuclear computer systems were attacked by the Stuxnet worm.

The worm was a malware designed to infect computers using Siemens Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) - a control system favoured by industries that manage water supplies, oil rigs and power plants.

Since then Iranian officials have stated that the country will be working on strengthening country's online security.

Not long ago, Iran announced that it has prohibited import of foreign computer security software. Iran's Information and Communications Technology Ministry said that Iran will rely on its own software, made by local developers.

According to the Ministry, domestic security programs have been improving, and Iran will use them, instead of foreign security software, which cannot be trusted.

Yes, all foreign security software cannot be trusted. :argh:

    Nuts is nuts.

    Ok then.

    That is all.

That's true to a certain degree, most AV's can not fully be trusted any more no matter where they from. But especially with new AV's I would be careful, if you think about it, it's the easiest way to invade PC's. Some of my family members are using Baidu AV at the moment, I'm not sure what to think of it. Who knows what type of files Baidu is uploading to the cloud.

It's one of the best free antiviruses in my opinion, but is a bit heavy on some computers which is why I use other Chinese antiviruses (but I have installed Baidu's PC Faster on a lot of computers). Personally, I'm not worried about what they might be uploading.

I love how each and every thread becomes about bashing something other than the topic itself, especially non-western software OR praising the "lovely" software you use yourself. I can now actually guess where will the topic go just by looking at user names :)

On topic did anybody actually try Padvysh?

USA still the best. But barely.
The reality about software & hardware is not always known but to a few. Post Snowden I don't feel so paranoid.

Well my test shows it is not a good software or maybe because it gave windows 8.1 compatibility warning. Anyway It could not remove and did not remove some malwares and its proactive missed some nasty crypto locker bugs (it detected them but skipped repairing themo_O). SO not worth it on win 8.1.

Atleast the other iranian antivirus called IMOD did much much better, since it used bitdefender engine.

I would leery of any software especially security software developed in a country with totalitarian governments such as Communist China and Iran to name a few. The risk of installation of back doors and the like under government directive is just to high for my liking. Such vulnerabilities could be activated in an all out cyber warfare scenario against another country.

Yes, there are documented privacy issues with U.S. security software manufacturers but their software is not purposely designed to launch malicious attacks against their customers.

Another example are the firmware hacks discovered on hardware originating from Communist China.

    @ taleblou

Thanks for the AV link, & testing. The PDF link didn't work for me ? Was the AV & PDF in english, or ?

Maybe the 8.1 warning should be heeded !

Almost all are. But with ABC agencies here is US and west spying leaked I trust non US and western made AVs more then the others. If you live in the west you can get in trouble using their spy field AVs but non western AVs can not effect you since you are not in their country or their citizen.

I agree, although I can't imagine that big companies like Baidu and Qihoo would install backdoors into their apps. But I also don't like the privacy issues involved with AV's from the USA, Russia and other European countries. I have already difficulty trusting them completely, let alone countries like China and Iran.

I tried to install it earlier on today, but as i'm on XP/SP2 not 3 as it was designed for, it obviously wasn't going to happen. As the first part of the install, the licence, was in Iranian, i wouldn't have understood the options/settings etc etc, even if it had worked !

Anyway, i wish them, & other security apps etc from Iran, All the best

The installer asks whether the UI should be in English or Persian. The license is Persian-only though.

    You're welcome :).

By the way, "Padvish" is the spelling used at its website.
