Again, I've given up on laws or "internet democracy" to fix this kind of stuff. It's just with many others things in life, those in the know will use tools to circumnavigate the best they're able and everyone else gets (in my opinion, wrongly) excluded simply because they're not savvy enough.

In my opinion we are on the brink of something right now, the ruling elite are just continuing in the same vein they always have, securing everything the world has to offer for themselves, but now things are different, information technology is making the masses aware of things we never would have known about 30 years ago. Democracy may not be able to fix this, but the people still can.

I wish I could share your optimism, RockLobster. If we are on the verge of anything, I'm afraid it is the verge of Idiocracy. The masses will never become aware of anything, other than precisely what the ruling elite wants them to be aware of. A few of examples from the USA: The masses are against whistle blowers, labor unions, education, the environment, health care for the poor. The masses are in favor of lowering taxes on the super-rich, more police and more military, making money off every possible resource (including internet ads).

I know you are right but we have to keep trying to make them open their eyes. I believe you could say we are living in the age of deceit where what is "good" has been and still is being redefined for all those who wish to buy into it. I see this happening at every level especially in respect to the people and organizations you mentioned. One of the biggest problems we have is statistically speaking 50% of the population is of below average intelligence and average intelligence is probably barely able to comprehend what is really happening in the world today but it is very capable of being brainwashed and indoctrinated and those who seek to control are well aware of this.

That's why I find the second-realm approach to be more workable: http://y5fmhyqdr6r7ddws.onion/files/secondrealm.html

You need Tor. I just checked, and it's up.

It's also available via https://anarplex.net/ but use a VPN :)

Navigate to Files, and then to Second Realm.

The question is, what is the answer to all of this ? We have been railroaded for two decades, there is so much to fix it is mind boggling especially as we now know we cannot even trust the hardware on our systems not to be doing covert things.

Yes, they're pushing circuits to high bandwidth relays.

Anyone else that feels that way is always welcome to hit me up (and I'm sure others in this thread would love a PM too). We've been trying to not derail threads into the unavoidable venting about the states of things in our sad world, so the best we can do is at least take the conversation else where. I do get where Wilders is coming from with that- anyone that's read comments on https://www.schneier.com/ knows how easy it is to go far off topic, however warranted.

So, let's just respect that this IS a computer security forum first, and that while we're all very like-minded and open minded, we should take those rants, vents, and general shooting the breeze to a better outlet. So just hit me up if interested and I'll hook you up. Just anyone and everyone who is interested.

I notice the TOR speed too, but just to protect yourself make SURE you are not being "herded" to evil nodes. Always check the cert fingerprint to know you are actually where you think you are - such as here at Wilder's. A month or so ago it appeared that "herding" was happening by DOSing the regular little nodes and then in effect directing to "their" nodes with mega bandwidth.
