I had installed 64 bit version but I have noticed that VLC plug-in wasn't loaded in Opera 27. I had to uninstall 64 bit version and install 32 bit, then VLC plug-in showed up among Opera plug-ins. Do you think that it has any disadvantages to have 32 bit of VLC instead of 64 bit on Win 8.1 64 bit? I didn't notice any difference in VLC performance.
hi thanks for the news but is there a real different between the 64 and 32bit? i played several movies and videos i did notice any differents
I don't think so because if there would be any real difference, Videolan wouldn't make 64 bit optional. They would compile the common installer (32 and 64 bit) which would recognize your system and would install the appropriate bit version. But the main installer is only 32 bit and 64 bit installer is optional and deeply hidden in Videolan page.
I did upgrade & also tried fresh install but setup association gives C++ error. Under preferences - setup associations when clicked gives error. All the previous version were fine. Any of you facing this prob? Win 7 64 VLC 32 UPDATE - I use 4kdownloader to download videos from Youtube. 4k also offers mkv format to download videos. mkv file has VP9 codec. This use to play fine with previous versions of VLC but this latest version is not playing them.

VLC Media Player 2.2.2 http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html Changelog: http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc-branch/NEWS
Updated to 2.2.2, but disappointed to find that it *still* doesn't play back DASH MP4 video or audio correctly (I use SMPlayer for DASH playback.)
it also will not remember positions or click to play/pause even with the correct settings and extensions. Disappointing. Using Potplayer instead.
