I've found most of these programs although they claim to have removed/cleaned/deleted every last bit of the software you choose to delete often leave folders behind in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming Having tried ~ Removed Link. Site Not Recommended By Wilders ~ The claim here of 100% removal is Inaccurate. Only after deleting the Uninstaller itself, did the remaining folders in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming actually dissapear
Those reviews are ancient.. It looks like they are reviewing a 5 year old version of Advanced Uninstaller Pro. Which went Freeware 2 years ago!
I just use UltraSearch to find remnants... As for the registry, I usually don't bother unless there is a problem.
Me too. Revo Free isn't also bad but it is useless for a 64 bit system. So IObit Uninstaller is the best free uninstaller tool regardless on bit OS system versions, imho.
It is, but doesn't run in the background or index. I also had problems searching within the System32 folder with Everything before.
Free Uninstall It is much better at finding leftovers than IObit Uninstaller and also support 64 bit Windows, but it's not as good as Revo.
Agreed, I use Revo Uninstaller Pro. I also have a license for Total Uninstall 6 but that thing often logs reg entries not pertaining to the program I am installing when I am monitoring an installation with it and so is the case when uninstalling so I don't trust it anymore.
What about Tom's Hardware, Tom's Guide and Tom's IT Pro? I believe these are reputable websites, aren't they? It will surprise you to know that they are owned by the same company "Purch" that owns Top Ten Reviews. How is it that a few websites owned by one company are legit whereas one is considered fake? Keep in mind, I am not writing in favor of Top Ten Reviews, it is just a general comment. To the OP, if you really need a good uninstaller, you will have to go with a paid one and also the one that uses snapshot based technology as its engine. The free ones are good but sometimes they may leave behind odd leftovers.
Top Ten Reviews, does not provide an objective reviews of the products it promotes. It makes money from the products it promotes as an affiliate. It doesn't promote free products, as there is no money to be made from doing this. The will quite gladly recommend poorly performing software if they can make money from it, as all they care about it making money. You can find plenty of negative reviews of the site here. Also, you could do a Google search for toptenreviews scam.
But that is what I was asking, does Tom's Hardware also make money from its recommendations as it is owned by the same parent company? If it does then why is Tom's Hardware legit?
It may be smaller but it certainly isn't better than iobit uninstaller. I've used geekuninstaller for more than 1 and a half years. Now I've switched to iobit uninstaller. Geek uninstaller missed many registry entries and folders. Iobit uninstaller on the other hand rarely misses anything and very thoroughly scans for remnants. Couldn't agree more. I just don't find any reason to pay for an uninstaller when we can get a more than good enough uninstaller for free.
We've tested them all here, and found Advanced Uninstaller Pro to offer the best removal, without breaking anything, and it is 100% FREE. I use version 11.21, and never upgrade to the new version. The new version has 'bundles' with the installer (Conduit, etc), and installs some dumb computer monitor.. 11.21 doesn't have anything with it, installs clean, and runs clean. I've used 11.21 for almost 2 years. You can find Advanced 11.21 here; http://www.filehorse.com/download-advanced-uninstaller/old-versions/page-4/
