Hi, I've just want to know which is your best apps for protecting your computer from infected external HDD. Here are a few :http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/tools-to-protect-computer-from-infected-usb-drives/ Let me know which one do you recommend according to you own experience ? Thanks for your contribution.
For me it's none of them. I use Appguard, ERP(NVT) and EIS(Emsisoft) Plus I run Sandboxie and that also can easily be used.
None of them also. Use Sandboxie shortcuts to open any USB flash drives. Autorun.inf is disabled and when needed write protect is enabled to lock down any connected devices.
Doesn't your AV software guard you from this? I know my BD when I plug in a USB flash drive it automatically scans that flash drive.
I dont have realtime protection on the laptop just mcshield since other peoples usb drives are not under my control. So yes BD will do the same as mcshield. as to gdata and fake keyboards i doubt BD will protect.
Sandboxie. Free version users who disable autorun, can create sandboxed shortcuts for your USB drives. Or, you can navigate to the USB drive using a sandboxed Windows explorer. Either way works good as long as autorun is really disabled. Paid version users. You can force your USB drives. By forcing your USB drives, when you insert a flash drive, the USB folder opens up using a sandboxed version of Windows explorers, anything that runs automatically, runs sandboxed. Either version. If you know the flash drive is infected, you can set up the USB sandbox in a way that no program can run, that way, you can insert the flash drive, safely get the file you want out and delete the sandbox afterward. What I wanted is from an old laptop that sometimes boots, others times, not, I suspect it's infected as the keyboard is blocked most of time, I can't use it, but others times it works, not easy, but it works. All in all, I will extract this HDD from this laptop and put inside an HDD external case, so that I can use my security programs from a clean laptop to detect any malware on this old HDD, without infected the clean laptop. Thanks in advance.
