In that case, may I just address you as Froggie?

Seriously though, I'm disappointed that I have not yet received any advice from Macrium Support re my non-functioning rescue disks!

Barry, you need to get a baseline on that whole system. Download the FREE ATTO benchmark and run the appropriate version (x86 oe x64) on your system, and run it on each storage device, including the one your SYSTEM is on. You should run it on your external drives... the so-called USB3 drive in both a USB2 and USB3 connection.

You need to get a handle on what you've got to work with there. With ATTO, just select your drive and let it go (with defaults)... capture each finished window with a drive designation so we can see what you've got.

    Froggie it is!
    I was being serious...

Jo Ann, you might try and send your problem description to their support email directly <Support {AT} macrium {DOT} com>... I've gotten good response via that portal.

Thanks Froggie, I have done as you suggested. Much appreciated.

I have asked for a copy of ATTO and will try to get to the test ASAP, may have to wait for the weekend at this point.

I'm afraid I can't say the same. I sent a description of the problem to that email address on Tuesday and nothing has come of it so far!

Indeed. However, I'm not looking for scaling, but using the native resolution of the monitor (if possible).

    Jo Ann,

Have you tried building a rescue USB flash drive? You only mentioned optical media.

No I haven't Brian, is there any reason to believe that would succeed when building a rescue CD failed? I'm positive that my burner is good, I am using quality blank disks, and I am able to burn other ISO's without any problem.

If you don't get it in a timely manner, lemme know and I'll make mine available.

Jo Ann, they boot and load differently. I rarely use boot CDs now as UFDs load much faster.

You only need a small UFD. I like 1 GB UFDs.

I guess it's worth trying. My only UFD has the Active@ Boot Disk on it so I'll have to shop around today and get another.

I create images of my UFDs. So the same one can be used for multiple apps. Image/restore the UFD.

Active@ should be able to image your current UFD.

Personally I use YUMI to create a multi-boot USB flash drive, that way they are always there without having to replace for each specific scenario and I don't need multiple ones.

YUMI is great but I have one or two apps that don't boot the same from an ISO as they do from a UFD. IFL is one. It becomes limited when booted in YUMI.

    Jo Ann,

I just checked this. You can boot your Active@ UFD and create a Disk image of itself.
    Create a Macrium UFD.
When ready, boot an Active@ CD and restore the Active@ Disk image to the UFD Disk.

Brian, but I'm not following you on this. Would you please outline the procedure step by step?

Boot your Active@ UFD, open Active@ Disk Image, Disk to Image, Full Backup, select the Disk number of your UFD, Backup to your HD, Normal compression.

Let me know when you have the image. It will be an .adi file about 190 MB in size.

Edit... do you have an Active@ boot CD? You will need to make one if you don't have one.

Edit... Make sure you select the Disk number of your UFD. Don't just select the Active Boot partition.

No I don't have Active@ Boot Disk on a CD. Do I need it on CD as well as on my UFD?

You need the CD to restore the Active@ image back to the UFD. The UFD will contain Macrium.

I see. After creating the Active@ Boot Disk Suite on UFD I uninstalled it from my HD, so I need to reinstall it before I can burn it to CD. I'll have to get back to you when that's all done.

That's OK. Reinstall it, create the CD and make sure it boots. Then you can uninstall the software.

Or you could simply forget the imaging procedure and create another Active@ UFD after you have tested the Macrium UFD.

Ok, doing it this way should I just try building an MR rescue disk to UFD (is that the same procedure as when building it to CD)? Is it necessary to format the UFD (with the Active@ now on it)?

Same procedure as a CD. You don't have to format the UFD as Macrium will do that.
