Have gone back to using ver.1 b548. And it seems? to work just fine. Is there an problem with the v1 that I (or anyone) need to be aware of? Vs using the Macrium instead, as the fellow advised.

The silence here from the team is highly reminiscent of the quiet when AX64 was passing hands from ISSO and company to Waj and company ... Even on Bitsdujour where ISSO was actively answering questions, no voice is now being heard.

Timmy, Build #548 is v2, not v1... FYI. And I don't think Build #548 (BETA) works any longer for those of us that were using it.

    Dear Wilders

Apologies for the lack of updates. I want to confirm that we are alive and well. AX64 is still strong and we have more partners than ever before. The milestones achieved on the last beta were achieved by a talented new developer. It was great and we had a solid road map ahead. Unfortunately unforeseeable events occurred and we lost this talent. A lot of the developments achieved in the latest beta now have to be put on the back burner. It is a major setback and we have to rebuild.

On a positive note AX64 is here to stay. Despite setbacks, we are a healthier company now so we believe we can get our wind back and deliver something to you guys as soon as possible.

For the most of you who have reached out to us personally via email and live chat, thank you. As you know, we do respond quickly and provide support as always. Albeit this commitment is not always reflected in the Wilders forums. Sorry about that guys.

Lastly, it does hurt when folks come on to our live chat and we respond sincerely and honestly, yet it get's shed in a negative light on Wilders. The comments on Macrium for example. A rare few users specifically have stated to us that the latest beta only works for them, and official releases do not (for example support for larger disks only available on latest expired beta). As such, when the only alternative is the main official release and it doesn't work for the user, then we are gracious to suggest an alternative, even a competing product. We want our users protected, regardless.

We have no set release date for the next release, but do know we are alive and well and are working (and supporting) diligently.

We invite everyone to feel free to email through any questions or issues and we welcome your support.

Thanks very much for your patience.

    Thanks guys,

    Waj

Well its nice to finally hear from waj but to hear that there has been another big setback is a big disappointment. Its bad enough to be hearing it but after what has been going on for the last week it is more than a little disturbing. I need a product that I can rely on sooner rather than later and was convinced that that would have been the "expected soon to be released" newest version of the software. Now I hear that the time frame for a reliable/fully functional program has been once again extended with no end in sight.

At this point I am relieved that Macrium will soon be releasing a competing product, and I hope sincerely that it works as advertised. If it does I will be purchasing it rather than continue to limp along with AX64 (at this juncture even cold restores have begun to fail ---- version 1.3.0.7). I just don't trust the program or its pace of development at this point in time.

I do not wish the AXTM team anything bad but given what has gone on since Isso was no longer at the helm of the company all my good will has evaporated. I wish AXTM good luck and if it ever comes out as a solid reliable product I will consider it again,,,,,,,that is unless something else has taken the place on my system that it might have held.

Waj, these people who 'hurt your feelings' are likely ones like me, who bought licences to your software expecting to have a reliable working product. Many have been using the beta 548 which was working up until it timed out (yes, it wasn't working for everyone). Couldn't you have issued a patch to keep it working until you can regroup for a future stable release? These people on here have been supportive and positive about this software. For a number of weeks now, noone from AX64 has popped in to give assurance that you are working hard in spite of some setbacks. Not sure jumping in here to chastise a couple of speculative, non-malicious comments about Macrium and to say how hurt you are is very reassuring to your supporters. Quite disappointing, really. :thumbd:

    Hey Arby,

Hurt our feelings! Yes you guys do, but that's cause we care as cheesy as it sounds. Well, we've been hard at work and I am all for a beta extension. I will see what I can do here, as there is some disagreement when it comes to extending this beta, given some of the major issues some of the Wilder's users have encountered with it.

We're always available via our site or support e-mail. Not sure if we were chastising. That's pretty strong word, like rebuking or reprimanding. If that's how it came off, sorry. But we were just coming in to clarify that that's not what we meant.

Waj, thanks for showing up. Please take the following comments, including strong words, to be written with respect and compassion.

Showing up here really needs to happen more regularly if you don't want to lose this group.

Is there really such a dearth of good programmers that losing that one key developer forces you to shelve the really good things that were starting to show up in build 548? What kind of business plan is that? Your business has to be about reliability but any company knows that it absolutely cannot rely on one person like that. There must be redundancy/overlap.

    Selfishly wishing you great success!

Yikes, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Waj, yes you need developers, but they won't help you if you guys don't develop a better business sense. I own and run a service business, and talking to people who are clients about hurt feeling. Give me a break. Sorry, but it's bad. Saddest of all, is I've lost my respect, not because of the problems, but the way you have handled them. It is sad.

Waj's attitude is reprehensible. The people on Wilder's have been AXTM's biggest supporters AND contributors. Not only that, but they have purchased the product as a result of false advertising on their site and dishonest statements and false promises on this forum by the developer after Isso left.

I have never seen a company with so much potential make so many stupid mistakes that will lead to certain failure if not corrected immediately. They should at least refund the purchase price to those that bought v2 under false pretenses.

    Very sad indeed!

I liked AXTM in the short time that I was using it (since last August). I feel a little betrayed and stranded to be told that I should stop using the beta version and try another vendor's software! Given that I have bought a full license for AXTM I should expect to get value for my money. What I found especially irritating was that I couldn't install the previous non-beta version. Having said that, I hope that the developers come up with a solution soon. Otherwise I will continue using Drive Snapshot to which I resorted after the expired beta fiasco.

What I do not understand, and which bothers the heck out of me, is that the beta, which was working well for many, was allowed to expire without any warning. Set backs occur, I understand that, but to leave folks who have been using the product successfully in the lurch is simply wrong. There should have been an extension of the beta offered to those who wanted it until a new beta, or general release version became available. The time to tell folks what was going on was before the expiration, not a week after the fact. In addition, the idea that the beta features are now on the back burner because some developer left is, to me, bizarre. Folks have not been well treated here and it has caused some very bad feelings. Sad given the mountain of good will that Isso had earned.

to Mr. Froggie: Yes thank you, you are absolutely right. To correct orig statement, am using v1.4148. And just wanting to know if there is any reason not to just go on using it, since seems to work ok. And the restores with it are very fast.

Just go on using it... I am

Eventually you may be a victim of a HOT restore hang/failure (it happens sometimes)... just do a COLD restore and continue on.

FWIW, After following this thread since the beginning, I have gone through every emotion from excitement, to dismay, to hope, and back to dismay, to the feeling of hopelessness which is where I am now. I have uninstalled AXTM and will rely on my RIR and Macrium Reflect until I see what unfolds with the new Macrium V6.

I have to agree with silver0066 , this whole situation is not very professional at all.
Wilder's has been one AXTM's biggest supporters AND contributors.
letting the beta expire was unprofessional, spicily when is was the only version the worked for some of us who bought V 2 licence's as I did.
But now AXTM has burnt out the good will of many here in including me.

( @wajamus we are gracious to suggest an alternative, even a competing product. We want our users protected, regardless.) Here a face palm moment. public relations at its best. ( : : we are sorry our product that you paid for do-not work for you now please feel free to buy something else from some-else : :)
    Professional to the last.. .

    Hi all

AX64 was born out of the want to create a simple backup solution, albeit a robust. This happened years before Wilders and continued amazingly through Wilders. We will continue along this path despite setbacks. It will take time and we appreciate those that have stuck with us a long time.

For those that have stuck us long or brief, and the software isn't up to satisfaction - we are always open to provide a full refund. Just contact us via the email below.

If anyone requires immediate assistance, we're always available almost 24/7 via mail info@ax64.com, live chat and even phone (found on website).

    Cheers,

    Waj

Waj, I don't think the people here want reassurance. I think they want reliability and improvements.

    Thanks I don't want a refund,
AX64 will need it for the Chapter 22.

I have recently been having cold restore issues. Twice now I had the hot restore fail so I went to cold. The process went to completion except the PC never fully booted. Just sat there with a black screen. I did a manual power off and restarted the PC. It booted but wanted to run dskck which I allowed. There were a very large number of orphaned files etc. I let chkdsk complete and then did another restore to the next earlier snap and all went as expected. The first time this happened I was able to do a hot restore to get to the next earlier snap, the last time (yesterday) I had to do two cold restores to get back to a machine I was comfortable running.

Not feeling great about AX64 at this point.

Reliability and improvements would be nice but I would also appreciate a much better line of communication. In fact, I could live with the lack of the reliability and improvement issues if there were a good line of communication. A warning that the beta was going to expire and an opportunity to keep using it if you wished since no subsequent beta was on offer would have been real nice. Now there are folks who were using the beta and suddenly they cannot backup or restore their PCs. Information about the delays should have come from the developers as soon as it was known that the beta was going to die and that no new beta was on the immediate horizon. And we should not have been left to speculate as to what was going on.

Am I being unreasonable here? I don't think so. I have been responsible for 10 licenses being sold. I have friends who bought AX64 on my recommendation and I have extolled the virtues of the program to all who would listen,,,,,,and now to be treated like this? Not cool at all.

PS: waj keeps talking about quick responce times to queries but there was a post very recently about someone who was waiting 3 weeks and still no reply. I don't recall the details but not very good at all. I feel like we are back dealing with HDS,,,,,not a good feeling at all.

Barry... you may want to try v1.4.1.48... it's much more advanced than the version that you've been using and it's been very good to me so far.
