This is ridiculous.
Governments are just exploiting recent attacks to further break anyone's rights.

What about "special service requests, such as meal preferences" ?

 

Governments have always wanted to know as much as possible about their human resources. Think taxes, soldiers, etc.

What could possibly go wrong with an EU-wide database? The database itself is going to be "anonymised" after 7 days (that is, you won't nominally be able to see the fields unless authorised). The fields will still be there of course. And shared with the 5-however many eyes it is these days.

Be thankful you're being protected, subjects. We'll work on the ferries and cars next....

 

There already was Data Retention Directive, which EU high court ruled illegal BTW (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2014/04/data-retention-violates-human-rights-says-eus-highest-court) and it did absolutely zero to stop Paris attack.

And now they (especially Cameron) are suggesting even more data collecting & storage.
Hell.... EU start's to look more and more like old U.S.S.R.

Yea. But like Nebulus here mentioned, they have to know when to stop. USA and UK are really overblowing it. And at least Germany, France and Italy has it's own spying stuff going on in EU.

It's interesting to note that when that now obsolete Data Retention Directive came in 2006, the following small countries were against it:

Bulgaria
Cyprus
Iceland
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Romania
Serbia
Sweden

And it's interesting also that now that the Data Retention Directive has been declared obsolete and illegal, UK (especially UK) hastily passed up it's own mass spying law to replace it.

Don't know what's the current status quo in other EU countries and especially in those previously mentioned small countries.
