I've noticed when watching a thread and select to receive email notifications it works, let's say one month. Suddenly email notification stops and me thinking there's no activity on that thread I don't read it or forget to read it, but when I realized many days have passed I come over to read it again then I see a lot of posts tagged as "new" that I missed. And this happens not just with one thread but all of them.
Mister X, have you checked your email client's SPAM folder? Have you added the Wilders email address as a contact in your address book? When Wilders first moved to the XenForo software last year, I elected to have emails sent to me, and very quickly, Wilders was "labeled" as a Spammer by my ISP, due to the volume of received emails. Perhaps the same thing is happening to you?
I've been doing some research on this and have discovered that the notification system in xF limits the sending of thread update emails by checking to see if you have visited the thread since a previous notification. On vBulletin, you merely had to visit the forum, (logged in of course), and then new replies made to any watched thread after that would send new notifications. xF requires that you access the specific thread since its last notification, in order to get the next notification. Apparantly, this design is meant to 1. encourage thread / forum visits, (i.e. a forum is not a mailing list - it's meant to be visited to read content. Emails are just notices, not a replacement for forum access.), and 2. to reduce the email spamming effect JR mentions above. I wondered about this myself, as I noticed less notifications were coming then posts made. And I was clearly visiting the forum frequently enough. So, this explains better how the notification system is meant to work.
Both variables checked out as usually they are prone to cause such "issues" with delivery, but again they are fine. My email account is a Gmail account btw. And btw these replies of yours weren't notified via email, I saw them by chance when I logged on into the forum. duh! How to know this?
I have to acknowledge that your statements describe exactly, I think, the issues I have. On a regular basis (every 15, 10 or less days) I use to restore an image backup of my active OS partition as a measure of security and other reasons. Do you think this have something to do?
In my case, the first few hit my GoDaddy Inbox without having to add Wilders as a contact. Then, due to heavy volume, Wilders emails were landing in my SPAM folder. That's how I knew they labeled the Wilders email address as a spammer.
No, in my case email notifications just don't arrive. I don't know what to do, you know what? I've noticed the same happened to Malwaretips.com as well. I'm fully confused...
Is your Gmail account set in a Restricted Mode, allowing only emails from contacts in your address book? My GoDaddy account is for business use, and I have to allow everything to come through. That's why I saw the Wilders' emails.

Thanks JRViejo for your help. Let me describe what I do as soon a notification comes in: 1. x-notifier (Chrome) alerts of an incoming message. 2. I see it's Wilder's notification and click on it to view the message. 3. Click the blue button "View Thread" 4. While another tab is opening to View Thread" simultaneously I delete the notification to keep clean my Inbox. Maybe this behavior of mine is the problem as Gmail considers I am deleting it too soon because I don't want it. Afterwards Gmail considers it spam and completely blocks it.
Mister X, you're welcome! I'm out of my league here because I don't use Gmail. I'm hoping that another Wilders member who uses your combination, Gmail and Chrome, will see this thread, and help you further.
BTW and maybe off topic: Some SPAM-filter-rules may flag email from the new XenForo board software, when you have subscribed to a thread, as SPAM when certain criteria are met. I have seen it happening. I'll try to explain. When you subscribe to a thread here at the XenForo based board, you will get an email. The following characters are in the title of your email: W, A, T, C and H. I deliberately spell it now that way here. You know, those characters form the word for the clock that you may wear at your arm. Now there used to be, and probably still are, lots of SPAM emails for not so cheap ones that are using that word in its title. That in itself should not trigger an email as SPAM. But when certain other criteria in SPAM-filter-rules are also met, the combination of them may do (where the emphasis is on the combination of criteria).
Too much for my little brain, I might conclude lol In short, I believe I should try another email service. Which one do you recommend ?
