This promotion will be active for 5 days starting from January 26th http://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/spread/softonic-is/ http://features.en.softonic.com/bitdefender-internet-security-2015
LOL! +1 on that! From their forum: "campaign is hosted on www.softonic.com" a spyware hosting a security product! how ironic! NOD32 (when I had it installed) flagged any of the Nero downloads which were hosted on softonic as malicious! LOL
pretty soon I expect Bit to offer the entire Internet Security product for free. They make their money on relicensing their product to other vendors and on their own creativity.
Can you give me some information on why you wouldn't use it? My Eset license runs out in 4 days and I was looking for a cheap or free replacement. Looking on AV-Comparatives BIS appears to be performing quite well.
Actually, most likely the downloads were as being installers containing adware rather than being malicious. There is a big difference.
Frankly there is no reason why not to try it, I have it on two PC's(see sig) and it runs with out issue as many other members do also, I don't even no it's there. Some people have personal dislikes for products and its just that, personal has no other merit on someone else's PC, it's a free trial DL it and try it and use the services you see fit with it, Don't like it uninstall it.
The ad states "Bitdefender Internet Security" so I would assume its only that, One don't have to use all the other features it offers if you don't want to.
An Internet Security license can also be used to activate Bitdefender Windows 8 Security, it does not work on BD AV+ or BDTS.
Do you or anyone else know if the Windows 8 Security version is based on the latest 2015 version of BitDefender? Thanks.
Thank you, already running on my Windows 10 TP, no sign of adware or any kind of malware, it's the genuine BDIS 2015 but with a promotional key for 6 months
No, it is a different version made specifically for Windows 8* and made to integrate with ELAM technology. The build has not been updated for some time, maybe the next will be for Windows 10, but obviously the av signatures are always current in line with their other products.
To add what rohugh said I had a spare key for AVP 2015 and tried activating W8S on my W8.1 PC and it wouldn't work, had to remove it and resort to AVP and been happy every since.
I don't know, my laptop has half the RAM of my desktop so it is unfair to look at and compare the two but I certainly do not notice any excessive resource use or slowdown in any way.
Have used bd free for 14 months with zero issues and great performance. Have read your posts about your strong views of bd 2015. Will give it a try.
Anyone notice any browser slowdowns? The last time I used BIS, I noticed slightly slower browsing with Chrome than I did with another AV I had used before.
