Can you specifically add Skydrive.exe? I found that even after checking "show hidden files etc" and unchecking "hide protected operating system files" (in a separate Explorer window) Skydrive.exe would not display when trying to add an executable to the Identity Protection list. The question is why doesn't the file display and why are "Folders and Search Options" (in the Organize menu) greyed-out?

I have the full Office 2013 Pro Plus x64 on Win 7 x64 and the funny thing I was looking for the .exe and found out OneDrive is controlled by Groove.exe!

And I see what you mean on Win 8.1 Pro x64 as Skydrive.exe doesn't even show using the add button I will ask about it very strange! I will get back to you on this one!

    Thanks,

    TH

    Yes.

I thought that when a program is trying to access protected data, it will be listed under Allow or Deny automatically.
In the general settings, there is an option for allowing Trusted programs to allow screen contents(default=true), but the screen content option is all there is. Regarding other content/data, Webroot has probably added some trusted programs to a whitelist in order to prevent compatibility problems.
    Maybe @Triple Helix knows this?

Hello TH or anyone with info

Any news regarding beta of a new version, seems like a very long time (2013) since the present one was released, i have the byinvite version installed waiting patiently and hope that things haven't "gone over the cliff" development wise after the buyout & after that Joe left to pursue his career because as i recall the present version was released in October 2013 right?

Perhaps there is a closed door beta test program i have not noticed perusing the forum? Sorry i mean this forum, the Webroot forum i think is a mess best left unnoticed! ;) :)

What exactly is 'Protected Data'? I cannot find anywhere in the WSA help files that states precisely what constitutes 'Protected Data'. Is it simply data in the browser that is currently open (ie: data entered into the browser is protected from MITB/MITM malware) or does it include for instance 'My Documents' and 'My Pictures'.
If it includes 'My Documents' for instance and I change the classification of my Chrome browser from Protect to Deny does this mean that nothing in the browser would be able to see in the 'My Documents' folder. Or, if 'My Pictures' where I have my photos stored is 'Protected Data' and the browser is 'Deny' would I still be able to attach a photo to an email if the browser cannot see the 'My Pictures' folder.
This scenario is easy to set up with Sandboxie but I wondered if I could apply the same restrictions using WSA?

I do not not have WSA installed on this machine at the moment so cannot try it out for myself.

I think it is times like this where Joe's presence is missed - he would have popped in with all the answers in his always clear and understandable way.

The 2015 version has been released but Webroot is not using the Year anymore and they are doing improvements throughout the year now so if you have v8.0.6.44 then that's the Current Beta and Release version. The 2014 version was v8.0.4.xxx and now v8.0.6.xxx. Also Webroot is asking for Beta testers at the Webroot Community in you or anyone wants to join just post in here: https://community.webroot.com/t5/An.../Looking-for-Webroot-Beta-testers/td-p/175350

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

I'm looking into it and yes I feel the same way Joe is missed very much but he still checks the Code under Contract to Webroot so that's good to hear and he says hi to all.

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

Oh i see, so nothing as changed generally except the numbering? ;) :)

Just kidding, i have used Prevx/Webroot since 2.0 days and since Webroot took over and Joe left it feels like very little progress has been made, no new options, looks exactly the same and the native 64bit version was pulled as well.

I got a chock when i installed another vendors cloud AV and found it to feel much lighter than Webroot which for some time was the lightest i could find, but i tried the other one because i was seeing the opposite with Webroot lately without being able to pinpoint as i had been using Webroot for so long (Panda cloud on another pc) so i was hoping a new beta was looming.

Btw thank you for always so helpful. :thumb:

I'm not all that concerned about "change" for the sake of change.

For example, on my XP setup where I run Online Armor and Sandboxie, Webroot AV was the only one I tested which, when run with the aforementioned apps, not only detected and blocked malware sites but also properly scanned downloaded files. (All this via Firefox, the only browser I have used with XP in some years.)

On the other hand, Emsisoft Antimalware, Qihoo, Baidu, Panda, Bitdefender and others did not block known bad websites nor scan downloaded files (prior to attempting to open them). YMMV depending on your own specific setup.

For the record, I have no connection nor interest in any security company's offerings beyond how well it does what it claims on my own machine(s).

So, speaking solely for myself, if Webroot makes changes, I hope it stays the same.:p

They are working on many things as they are working via a road map for the year I can't say as I'm under NDA but some big things will be coming. It is both 32bit & 64bit native on 64bit the program installs in Program Files and not Program Files (x86) also there is a Driver in System32\drivers\WRkrn.sys as well in SysWOW64\WRuser.dll and nothing has change as Joe said a long time ago.

    HTH,

    Daniel

Yes they say it will stay under 1MB and no added crapware or unneeded features but the road map looks good and going the right way I wish I could say but can't.

Ok, that sounds interesting, again thank you for sharing a bit of info. :thumb:

I guess time will tell, i'm probably more like "I believe it when i see it". I think no one is asking crapware, certainly not me, i use the complete version without backup/password options as i have (for me) better options. What i would like to see is a new GUI, never liked the one now, it's messy and not logically layed, i've justgotten more used to it over the years, as well as continued focus on it being light and by light i couldn't care less if it used 900mb of ram as long as the feel is light.

Good explanation. I wish their official guide/tutorial paper was more detailed.

I am confused by this, it says you can have an application both protected & allowed but these cannot be both selected in the GUI (they are radio buttons not checkboxes). I have a particular interest as I have a problem with a home finance application (MoneyManagerEx) when I set it to protected. Then none of the shortcut keys work correctly as I believe they are being scrambled to other keys. On reading the post I hoped that also setting to "allow" might fix this.

Have a look again "And yes a process cannot be both protected and allowed at the same time."
