    Hello All,
Over the past three months, I have experienced three BSODs with the same error: 0000009f.
I am running Win7 Pro on a Toshiba X-70 Qosmio that uses an Intel CoreI7 4700MQ processor, boots from a Samsung 850 Pro 128 gb SSD, uses an HGST 1 terabyte HDD for data storage, runs 8 gig of Samsung DDR1600 memory and Nvidia Geforce GTX 770M discrete gpu.
I captured the dmp file and MSInfo32 output file with today's crash but not the first two times, which were back in November 2014.
Today I also set up the minidump feature to NOT automatically reboot, because all three crashes have happened when the computer (which runs 24/7) was unattended.
Any thoughts would be appreciated . . .

Also, I have always felt "if it ain't broke don't fix it", so I have never been one to just update drivers because there is a newer version available but . . .
I am beginning to entertain a change in my ways . . .
My question to all is: What driver updater program do you use (if any)?

Thanks ahead of time and . . .
    Best Regards,
    Bob Miller

I have done over 50 formats to finally get the drivers right.

    1) You cannot simply grab the latest drivers, you need to ensure they are compatible with your hardware.

Example, if I installed the latest Intel Chipset Software 10, I will notice in Device Manager / System Devices, nothing got installed, as if no driver installed, that is because the Intel Chipset Software v10 is only meant for the new Broadwell based CPUs motherboard so I grabbed the latest version that is compatible with MY laptop's chipset, and that was 9.4.0.1027

that's just to give you an example on how you should go about this

    before updating any drivers

download and install WhoCrashed then let the BSOD happen, then open WhoCrashed and click Analyze and post the info you get so we can pinpoint the error. We don't want to go blindly updating all your drivers and possibly breaking your system even more

Now.......if you must use a Driver Updater.....

I have always wanted to have an app that searches for drivers of all my installed devices and informs me if there are any updates + give me the download links.

There are many driver search apps but most of them are paid.

My-Config is a FREE driver updater that works like a charm and finds all updated drivers then gives you download links for the updated drivers. All the links come from the official manufacturers so they are safe to install.

    Mortal Raptor,
    Thank you!

I installed "whocrashed" but also found an MS hotfix for my precise issue and have run the hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2459268

And I identify with your stance on updating drivers . . .

BTW, I am impressed by your Alienware rig's specs and considered one from them but decided to go with (my second) Toshiba Qosmio this time around . . .

    Thanks again!

    Excellent bro! Thanks for sharing!

This Alienware cost me $6500 USD if you add the price of the 3 SSDs I added.

Unfortunately, this is the last good Alienware 18, it has been discontinued and now DELL wants to give its customers underpowered laptops with soldered CPU + components so they cannot upgrade :(

Read this if you have time:

    RIP - Alienware 18
