USA still the best. But barely.
Three additional marketing steps to get "free" license.

Thanks. Emsisoft is the real deal.

If you let the trial expire, you can use Emsisoft in a Freeware Mode which offers no protection, but is one of the best secondary scanners you can get.

    zapjb, thanks for the clarification.

I've had multiple experiences where AVs did now work for me. But overall, I think Emsisoft is one of the good ones. I use it in Freeware Mode on 3 systems. Companies like Emsisoft which are rapidly evolving are always going to have growing pains..

Weird I like Emsisoft. I ran EAM paid for 2yrs with OA free & the results were stellar. I think I got boxed copies for $10-15 total for 2 years. But when it was time to renew the cheapest license from reputable sources was $30 or $40 a year. Couldn't swallow that.

So I'm still on the 9mo BDIS free trial. The results are ok but I feel I was better off with EAM paid with OA free. But I already scored a boxed BDIS 3user/2yr for dirt cheap.

Anyways I tried to install EAM free & it won't install. Think it's punishing me for not renewing. :)

I loved EAM @ version 8, never had a single issue with it, was light and offered decent protection. Unfortunately after the new GUI changes and v9, it became so buggy, if you take a look at their forum the issues you see there are scary.

Issues are mostly related to EIS and its firewall component that needs to mature, not EAM.....

That's too bad. I've had no problem with the Freeware versions, but of course there are fewer problems to be had. I hope they work out the kinks soon.

Thank you for the correction. That's what I meant, but you made it more clear and correct.

    Are those thing really problems?

Even if the action center doesn't report it off, when it's actually on. Then Emsisoft should be able to protect you, right?
And even if the taskbar icon is gone, shouldn't the processes still be active and providing protection?

...and those issues happen only on certain systems...not on every user's machine.....

True, but at this day and age, where software/apps have developed a lot, I think it is unacceptable to have such quirks. This is in my opinion as it messes with my perfection OCD, you may be fine with it but with the many good other AVs available out there, I don't see a reason to use this anymore after having experienced these bugs, sent them my system logs, worked with support. they promised a fix, but for almost a month nothing happened, so they gave me a refund eventually.

Ah yes, siketa, from the land of many beautiful women..

So like many AVs, some work better on certain systems than others.

I had all sorts of trouble with Bitdefender until I had to just remove it. But it's seemingly working well for the majority... so sometimes that's just the way it goes.

I had issues when I tried Emsisoft. Some machines BSOD, first BSOD I've ever seen on those machines. Also there were clear conflicts between Emsisoft and Kerish Doctor, again the first time I have seen those issues running/testing many things with Kerish. Also a friend running Emsisoft found out 'weeks' after his subscription expired it was expired. Emsisoft never notified him. I hate quirks in software frankly, and with todays development tools, debuggers, and hardware analyzers I find it unacceptable as a rule.

Quirks are what drive me away from products, and AV's are rife with quirks.. Even Trend 2015 has quirks, which is why I tell people to let it marinade for another beta round. Norton 2015 doesn't seem to have any quirks I've noted, so that's what I am running. Prior to that I ran ESET, but recent incarnations have had quirks.

As we all already know, there is no perfect software. That's why you should trial the product before purchasing.

Same as TrendMicro, my only complaint with EAM is its "heaviness" on my laptop :(

Tempted to go without any security software apart from Windows 7 Firewall + Windows Firewall Control. Had enough of a run around with SpyShelter, did my head in with EIS, lost enough sleep already thinking about HIPS... just over it all... it's 2015 ffs, shouldn't things get easier?

    Hello!

Does EAM in a Freeware Mode autoupdate?

I use Online Armor freemium. Online Armour seems not so actively developed. Is it still offers good protection with its FW, HIPS and anti-keylogger? I can install Zemana AL (with lic) alongside OA for anti-keylogger protection, I believe there's no real need actually. Am I right?

    Thank you.

    What is UTM...

Not sure about the freeware mode update. I have a 3 year key.

The keylogger feature in OA doesn't pick up stuff that Zemana AL or SpyShelter Premium would pick up... and vice versa. All 3 applications have a "network" sorta' thing where users vote on files to determine if they are keyloggers or not... (might be wrong). Whether or not the application detects a keylogger is determined by its ruleset. When I had ZAL and OA side by side, it was very rare that both picked up the same file at the same time, one would miss most of the time. At the end of the day, you are the best HIPS for your PC.
