FilterProxy can block ads in apps, but will take a while to set up (you have to manually). AdBlock Plus for Android was buggier than LostNet for me. FoolDNS and ba.net AdBlock may not be as comprehensive. NoRoot Firewall can block domains, but I never seen that working. You could just block internet access entirely for the app. And so on so forth.

The best option would be to root your phone, and modify the HOSTS file. That is a pretty seamless experience which won't affect your data usage monitoring, use of VPN, etc.

Yes, the premium version of Adguard blocks ads in apps. The free version blocks ads only in the browser. I used it for a while and it worked quite well. I occasionally had to re-enable it, but otherwise it was fine. The premium filtering can be enabled for a trial period (7 days I think). It uses the VPN interface just like Lostnet and GreyShirt, which I guess is the only way to get around not having root; only an issue when you want to use an actual VPN.

    Won't rooting void any warranty?

Actually, I already mentioned 2 methods w/o VPN, one being http proxy, the other DNS. Plus, you might find monitoring data usage difficult when all traffic is being filtered through either VPN or http proxy.

It definitely could if they find out.

Bought the Pro version of this app. Love its feature set and ability. But, seems the issue(s) with its intermittent blocking the network connection has not been resolved. Also had intermittent issue with the app freezing, and or, not opening. Such a shame really, its potential would be awesome if this firewall fired on all cylinders.
