    Thanks Mortal Raptor!

I think it is actual version 4.5.1.

    Upgraded over the top.

I'm still unsure what (if any?) I need to do with the OS Optimization option in it (having one SSD and one HDD) (Win 7 Pro).

Version 4.5.1 is a very welcome release for getting my 850 Pro to enjoy the benefits of the RAPID Mode feature in W7Pro64-bit.

@FanJ: Leaving your settings as is, and try running the integral Performance Benchmark test. Then, change your settings to optimize your SSD instead of your HDD and rerun the Performance Benchmark test again where you will be permitted to compare the results of the two tests in a horizontal bar graph. My tests with and without RAPID were quite informative.

Should we assume that in general, most of your system activities are with your SSD and your HDD is more for long term storage purposes?

    HTH :)

    Hi 1PW,
Thanks, and sorry for my late reply!
I will have to look at it further (it may be later; sorry).
Yes, you are right about my SSD and HDD.
    Thanks again!

I also had previously enabled the recommended 10% Over Provisioning.

    Enjoy and season's greetings. :)

    Thanks anon.
Although the new version seems to be more for the 850 / 840 EVO and I have the 840 PRO, I installed it over-the-top nevertheless.

    =====

I have another question for those of you who have Magician installed; a question that I wanted to ask for a long time.
When I look (for example) in CCleaner -> Startup -> Scheduled Tasks, I see this task:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung Magician\Samsung Magician.exe" /AUTOHIDE
Do you guys have that task enabled? And what does that task do?

PS: I'm on Win7 Pro 64-bit. The C drive is the 840 PRO, the D drive is an HDD (mostly for storage).

    Many thanks in advance.

The startup entry is just to load Samsung Magician on startup, you can right click the magician tray icon & click remove from startup.

I'm just hoping that this performance optimisation doesn't have to be run regularly to keep the performance of the drive. To update the drive firmware just click the firmware update tab & follow the steps, it will shutdown your PC & when you restart it it will have updated the firmware. Then just run the performance optimisation in the advanced tab.
