Are you sure those laptops aren't the same, because to me it sure seems that way.

The only difference that I did pick up on, is that this page says the model number of the laptop (17-e110nr on the title), as this page did not.

But as I said, I think these are the same laptops, because the specs are identical.

    Thanks Ty & Tree,

Yeah, they seem identical to me, but they are clearly listed separately.

Maybe it's just a listing error.

    Thanks

I would not go for a laptop with just 90 days of warranty, personally.

    Wow, you got me.

I do prefer this model at that price.

    Thank you.

    I owe you a beer.

YW. Let me know if you got it for $350 or $250.

Well... my Staples nearby didn't have it. So the $250 thing would not work.

And now... I've changed my laptop target.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store...-Signature-Edition-Laptop/productID.308794900

This one goes to $399 on Black Friday.

Some have said it's hard to get these.... that the inventory goes fast.

    But I'm going to try.

    But thanks again.

Picked up one of these tonight for my mother. Took about 30 minutes to get through on the Microsoft Store website because of heavy traffic, but I finally got it. I hope she likes it. :)

    She'll like it.

    Hey, I got one too!

I waited until midnight, had my forms all filled out... and then it was pandemonium in that website. I probably hit refresh a hundred times to make the purchase go through. The purchase got stuck over and over again as the Microsoft website was overwhelmed..

I never got a confirmation screen as it got stuck too... I just know I got one from the email confirmation I received.

But yeah, I got one. And then apparently they were gone... just like that.

Don't know where your handle "Cloudcroft" comes from -- but I have great memories of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. I had an uncle who had a B&B there... what a beautiful and peaceful place that is (or at least was -- as I have not been there in a decade).

Frank, thanks for the tip on the notebook. I had the same experience as you trying to get my order accepted. After I got the confirmation email I noticed that my cart was empty on the Microsoft Store website. In 30 minutes I probably refreshed the site hundreds of times.

As someone who lives in a pretty hot place in the summer, Cloudcroft New Mexico came to mind the day I signed up for an account here. It's a cool and beautiful place that I like to visit when I can, so my my forum name reminds me of that, especially on days when it's over a 100 degrees here.

Hey, what do you think or yours (your Mom's)?

I like it even more than I thought I would.

It's really nice... has a nice substantial feel to it... fast..

Frank, the notebook is really nice, in fact, I should have gotten two at that price. (My wife really liked it too!) My mother was excited to get it, and the more I played with it while getting it setup for her the more I liked it. It's very light and powerful, perfect for most needs. Thanks again for posting the link.

Just wondering these laptops that have keyboards that don't detach & screens that don't fold over. What good is the touchscreen, doesn't the keyboard get in the way?

You're welcome. Glad we both got a winner.

I actually don't like touchscreens. I'm going to look into disabling it.

    http://lifehacker.com/disable-your-laptop-s-touch-screen-in-windows-8-1-1588333600

The laptop was just a tremendous value -- touchscreen or not.

I just have not yet had time to check it all out yet... that is disabling the touchscreen and any implications of doing that.

I'd much rather use a mouse. And that's all I've use so far. Touchscreens get all smudgy pretty quickly..

And thank you zapjb for getting me looking around beyond what was my original laptop target.

    You are welcome FTP.

I know you are going to disable the touchscreen. But with these types of laptops I can't help but think how silly looking using the touchscreen while bypassing the keyboard appears.
