Hi I am new to this forum. I have used various imaging programs over the years with great success to clove a drive from a PC/laptop to an external hard drive and then install that into a new machine but I have another scenario here and I am unsure how to proceed.

I have paragon drive copy 14 and 2 Lenovo yoga laptops both with SSD drives and both with windows 8.1 pro installed.
I would like to clone the OS drive including all apps and settings files etc eg make a clone from one to the other.
The origin machine has a i5 processor and 128 GB SSD and the "recipient has an i7 processor and two SSD drives 0ne 256 and the other 128 GB both have 8GB RAM.
I assume it isn't possible to do it whilst the 2 machines are connected via a wifi network? or an ethernet network?
They are absolute B****** to remove hard drives takes ages and risks damage hence my preference.
Could I image the drive to a usb drive and then use that to image the recipient laptop?
If so can someone guide me which method to use in Paragon Drive copy 14 please as the manual doesn't seem to detail these options as far as I can see please?

I´m not familiar with Drive Copy.

You could image the drive to a USB drive and then restore that image to the other SSD. But, unless the two computers are exactly the same model and configuration (which seems not to be the case), you will need to "adjust" the Windows installation to the new hardware. There is a wizard in Hard Disk Manager (the program I´m familiar with) to assist in this process.

They are exactly the same model machines both with windows 8.1 pro installed the difference is the processors and larger SSd drive other wise they are identical. I expect windows activation issues with windows 8.1 but will workaround that. So you are saying use hard disk manager to image the drive then? I think drive copy probably is the same but with fewer features - have just looked on Paragon site it is as I thought . I will get a copy of hard disk manager I think - can you give any detail on the process. Do you need HD manager installed on both machines and what type of image is needed? Will the wizard you mention spot any issues post install of the image to the new machine? Thanks for responding to me :)

It seems that Drive Copy can create and restore images, so in principle you can use it, don´t need another program.

The first step would be to create a recovery boot USB key (or UFD, USB Flash Drive). This will allow you to work outside of Windows to create and restore the images. You need a 1GB or larger UFD.

To create the UFD, first install Drive Copy. You need another program, the RMB or Recovery Media Builder. Download it from your Paragon account, install it and follow the instructions to create a WinPE boot UFD.

You can find more details in the Drive Copy and RMB manuals.

If the process ends successfully, try to boot both machines from the UFD. To do this, insert the UFD and follow your computer´s procedure to get to the boot menu (usually you reboot and press several times the F12 or F1 keys). In the boot menu, select the UFD. When the loading of the WinPE finishes and the Drive Copy interface appears, browse the interface and launch all the wizards to check that they work without problems.

Once you have a working WinPE boot UFD, the rest of the procedure would be basically to image the drives of both computers to a USB external disk, and then restore the image of the drive of the "first" computer to the drive of the "second" one.
