looking for a flash blocker add-on for firefox?

looking for a flash blocker add-on for firefox as simple yet effective as flashblock (due to its discontinuation). i tried all the available ones to no avail. they either don't have a whitelist option or make you having to add an extra button to your toolbar in order to activate/deactivate it for each and every website.

I don't see the point of these extensions anymore ever since click to play?

 

The 'Check Compatibility' extension would work at one time, but I just tried it and it didn't work. I didn't know Phil Chee had stopped developing Flashblock.

Yes, I just looked at this on my Win 7 machine. Setting it to false doesn't seem to have any effect. I can't believe Phil Chee won't update this add on.

 

I use Click to play per element (it was the default behaviour in Firefox till someone had nothing better to do than change it)) and I whitelist websites from the address bar.

If flash needs to be white listed per site, shouldn't "ask to activate" option in plugins page help the situation.

I forgot about the plug ins page entirely. I've used flashblock so long on Firefox I forgot what it was like without it. The Maxthon equivalent extension hasn't fared well either. Thanks for the reminder.

everytime i load facebook , firefox plays every videos

unfortunately it fails to stop flash content on several sites, namely youtube, etc.

 

it should, indeed. but clicking only one button is way more convenient than having to click extra buttons everytime you come across a page that has flash content on it.

 

with the release of v34, it's no longer compatible with ff.

 

Ok. These days i have shifted to Chrome due to uMatrix and uBlock (formerly HTTPSB). It gives you all the control you need over the net requests a website makes

 

actually i'm considering moving to chrome. could you please verify whether chrome has the same tab options/capabilities you get w/ tab mix plus on ff?

 

Flash control works on YouTube and many other sites, just turn ON Flash control (button must be green not red)

I think that this is not a good thing. Hopefully Phil Chee will address this issue soon.

 

thanks for the ss. will give it another go. although i had turned it on the last time i tried it.

EDIT: it has no whitelist. so it breaks most of the streaming sites, esp. audio streaming services. with flashblock it's possible to add them to a whitelist, set&forget.

 

i'm afraid it's totally unlikely to happen because it's an abandonware now. the most recent version was released on April 2nd, 2013.
