Interesting...every previous version of Norton was worthless against PUPs. Have you actually tried throwing some opt-out rubbishware at it to see if it blocks?
I have, it's remarkable with the new 2015 reputation/validation/rollback system. I find 5-10 PUP/PUA blocks a week on her, and have run scans to validate this. Essentially I have everything blocked, then quarantined that cannot pass a reasonably high validation on the Norton Community. My daughter is a great tester for this. Hehe.
Not to derail this, but the other day I downloaded SUMO Updater, but never installed it. I browsed the download directory a few minutes ago, and Norton picked it up as a suspected trojan.gen, which I believe is the Relevant Knowledge Trojan buried in it. Norton has quietly eased their stance on refusing to detect PUP's behind the scenes, and seemingly flags them all (that I have tested) as Trojan.Gen files. That's with it set on Aggressive however.
If you downloaded installer then it contains adware. You can upload it to Virustotal - 12/52 AVs detect it. You can also download ZIP version, which doesn't contain any additional "offers" and is clean.

The download key has to be activated to start the count down timer. I guess it's just a matter of how long the key is valid before being activated. Would be a good question to ask Amazon or Norton.
