I've actually tried a few of those, but none currently installed ATM.

 

Anyone experiencing problems with deleting rules in HTTPS everywhere on Chrome? I checked out their website but could not find any reference to a bug. I have the latest Chrome version and I installed the extension from the Chrome store. It is up to date.

My problem: I checked this website to have it added and it turns out that it is not a candidate (seems a certificate update is required) and now when I deselect it, it will not go away ... keeps coming back. Would anyone be interested in testing it out for me (add wilderssecurity and then deselect it)? If my install is corrupted this will confirm it.

 

I uninstalled and re-installed the extension. This obviously reset everything, so I decided to test. I added wilderssecurity again and found I could not remove it. I think this is a bug in Chrome with this extension but I do not want to submit an incident report to the developer as it still may be my system. No-one else seen this problem?

 

I was genuinely surprised that the list wasn't much longer.

 

It works fine here. Selecting Wilders results in a privacy warning and certificate information. Deselecting Wilders returns things to normal except I have to close the Wilders tab to make it happen. A simple page reload doesn't work reliably.

 

I believe the developer is not really updating that extension anymore since he has forked it into uMatrix and uBlock.

 

I spoke too soon. I closed Chrome completely and the selection of Wilders was back and would not go away. I've not investigated. I just uninstalled HTTPS everywhere to get this site working. Looks like a bug.

After months of being tormented by a Facebook Chat Nasty Popup by...https://www.youradexchange.com/script/pop_packcpm.php?k=...I finally found a way to stop it by installing Poper Blocker. That Popup was nasty as it would keep opening up new tabs in Chrome when i was in facebook chat and lock my screen up on me......
Overall, this works great with Adblock Plus as it does the job Adblock fails to do. It’s really easy to unblock something if you want it to appear. The user friendly UI ensures that you will get the hang off it really easily.

I've tried HTTPS Everywhere a few times and I always end up removing it. Just too many broken sites.

Multi-booters beware!! Remove "Google Chrome" manually by registry to prevent catastrophic lost of all partitions!!

I have tried to UN-install the massively bloated Chrome (300 megs more or less) and have lost all partitions until an F8 "restore operation" restored them.

Regular UN-installation did not work on my old (2002), now an XP sp3 machine and may mess with the "boot.ini" file, which will keep all partitions from booting up.

My Xp machine with proper security works fine with FireFox and SBIE.

Yeh, just a quickie about Windows_Security's recommendation for the "Browsec" extension. One of Browsec's claim to fame (check it out on the Google store download page) is that you can "get around an overzealous Facebook page administrator." Thought I'd give a it spin pretty much based on that claim alone. Motivational history included, a certain band (Bubblemath, anybody?) eventually banned me from their Facebook website after apparently too numerous requests why they couldn't fulfill their promise for a second album (a stunning debut by the way) that was actually publicized and promised for release ten years ago and counting. A cut to the chase--- the extension is rubbish. Plain and simple. If anything else... adding the extension and trying to log in to Facebook requested that I confirm my birth date with Facebook (under an alias by the way)... Sorry to say, screw the "Browsec" extension and the pony it road it on. Extension deleted. Bye, bye. Period.

 

I wish Chrome would allow more advanced search for extensions. Search by rating, or number of users or latest updated.

Could you explain something to me please.
Why would i use this extension when the same can be achieved within chrome itself..?

1.I can turn off javascript within chrome and whitelist safe sites.
2.I can set plugins to click to play on sites.

Sorry but i see no reason to add an extension which to all intents and purposes does the same thing.

 

I used to think the same, but then a friend explained to me that I made two wrong assumptions:

1. Whitelelisting scripts on EXTERNAL websites does not work the same as whitlisting programs on YOUR harddrive? When you whitelist a script on a website it might be safe, but you have no idea whether this script is safe the next time you visit that website.
   
   
2. When whitelisting a website in Chrome to run scripts, you ALSO whitelist ALL third party scripts. So you implicitely allow scripts from OTHER websites as well. Have a read on cross site scripting vulnabilities.

Chrome has NO third party scripts/plug-ins/iframe control.
Script blocker for chrome in the setup posted, offers protection for the second threat vector. Blocking third party means that 95% of the websites works without manual intervention. With your suggestion only 5% of the websites work without manual intervention.
