I use Chrome and IE to download...they are set as "Trusted Application" and they are in the restricted list
Do you use any download manager? Can you send us your log files to secureaplus@secureage.com? You can just zip the entire log folder and send it to us. Probably we can try to understand more from the log.
Thank you very much for sending us the log files. From the log file it shows that you are running under learning mode. In learning mode, it will allow any untrusted application to run, but it will record them in the log file. You may need to turn off the learning mode (observation mode). This mode is usually used by corporate administrator to make sure that no critical applications in the production machine are being blocked before they lockdown the machine. They may need to fine tune the whitelist if they see any crucial applications being accidentally blocked by analyzing the log file.
Hello Thread Apology to Wilders and the Thread Ignorance of the rules is no excuse Sorry -- very sorry!
Please note this thread is about SecureAPlus and is not a discussion area for other softwares such as VoodooShield.
What's the difference in operation if I install the offline A/V or not. Confused about which to download, i.e., with or without offline A/V.
offline AV helps if you don't have a permanent internet connection. i recommend the no AV version if you have a constant internet connection. in fact i would recommend the no AV version regardless https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/secureaplus-freemium.350914/page-44#post-2418847
While there really is no good explanation between the two on the site, I got the impression that because of privacy concerns the product did not upload documents and that the off line scanner would do that.
i disagree as the offline AV still requires the universal AV (uploading) to be enabled. read the 'tips' area https://www.wilderssecurity.com/attachments/capture1-jpg.244883/ although i suppose the cloud AV could filter out sensitive file formats but its a longshot the no AV version is better all round anyway (no performance hit whatsoever for near 100% protection)
treehouse, hawki is correct in this regard, and the fact they are interdependent is not a matter. UAV never scan documents (yes, for privacy) but local AV do scan and you can add any file extension you want to be scanned, this is main advantage local AV have. However, I have to say in current implementation still the value of local AV is limited. Local AV scan a file reactively in background, so if you open the malicious file immidiately after download, you'll be infected before local AV detect and alert it. This background scan is due to performance reason ClamAV have, once sinlam clarified this as a reply for my question. I hope when they replaced local AV with better reputable AV, they introduce active scan unless it causes conflicts.
Hello Might someone be able to explain to me how an offline scan works. If the sig defs are in the Cloud. How does it scan offline. Does secureaplus have resident sig defs. How does it scan 24/7...I'm confused If my apps are in the cloud being scanned 24/7. What if I update an app and malicious code manipulates an app in my program files to deliver a malware payload on my machine. What good is scanning my apps in the cloud unless my app are looked at 24/7. Then the traffic would be enormous ... larger than some plans allow.
Hi bjm_, Here is how Universal AV works. At the beginning it will upload your hashes to the cloud. If somebody else has already had the same files as you, it will not upload any file from your machine. If your file is new, and nobody else has the same file before, it will upload the file to the server. If the file is changed, and nobody else has the same changes, it will upload the sample file to the server. If internet bandwidth is one of your concern, you can set the daily upload limit to the lower value. The server will do the scanning continuously 24/7, based on the sample files that has been uploaded. For example there may be a very new malware that currently undetected by any AntiVirus, but 1 week later it may be detected by one or more AntiVirus. Once it is detected as virus, the server will try to inform the user as soon as possible. If you subscribe to the paid service, it can also alert you via e-mail.

Running SecurePlus along side Avetix Antivirus with Bitdefender and Emisoft and Online Armor Firewall and they all play well together with no apparent slow down of the system .
After about an hour the comp suffered a major slow down. I uninstalled Avetix Av. It didn't help the slow down at all. I then uninstalled Online Armor which also didn't help. Uninstalled SecurePlus and immediatly returned to normal operation. Looks as if I won't be using SecurePlus.
Dont know if anyone follows the malware tips website, in the virus exchange secureaplus is out doing the more well known vendors, latest set of malware 26/26 detected, awesome result, i downloaded the latest set of samples and secureaplus jumped in before webroot and malwarebytes, might ditch malwarebytes and have it execution only
May we know which version installed? With offline antivirus or without? Did the initial full system scan already completed?
