    Hi there,

Thank you Froggy and others for testing out the beta. Thanks to those who took the plunge with testing. We see the problem and are urgently fixing.

We will have another build next week. As for now, be aware that this is a beta and you are using at your own risk. Remember to backup before hand.

    Thanks everyone.

    Regards,

    Waj

Is there any quality control before releasing a beta to the public?

6 successful hot restores one successful cold restore , no issue or glitch so far.
version 2.0.0.528 fail and failed on my system with issues just like TheRollbackFrog described
but for me this new beta is working a treat.

and again I wonder why there is only one thread for the product happily mixing beta testing and problem solving for various prior versions. Apart from the sheer size which makes it impossible to tackle for anyone arriving late to the party, we now have varying topics about issues happening with released versions 1, 2 and the new beta. I have installed V 1 on one pc and used is a few times but feel very uneasy on actually trusting it. I have not updated to V2 given the many issues others have reported, feeling V2 may not be stable yet. So the fact that we now combine this with additional beta versions that are discussed int his same thread, seems very counterproductive to me. There really should be a separate thread at least for beta testing.

Wilders management has refused to allow this I believe.

I am afraid that won't happen. By design this forum only hosts one support forum for major categories of software. In the case of backup it is Paragon. But to give a bit of leeway threads of this nature are allowed with vendor participation, but what you are suggesting would turn it into what would amount to a support forum.

pete i do agree a beta thread would be awesome just to keep the myriad of info separate but i also understand how the forum works. ax64 should have a forum setup imo like most companies do instead of mostly relying on this thread (unless they do but i have not seen one) this seems to be the place everyone is directed to whenever i see ax64 questions or issues on other forums its great to give wilders exposure but being this is not their "support" forum im surprised they have had as much leniency as they have. personally i appreciate wilders allowing it so i can keep up on the releases (even though currently i use it rarely till they get some things worked out) and issues, so ill say thanks its appreciated!

on another note waj when we will see any updates to real copy at all? i believe the beta was released last nov. and nothing since. just being curious did work on that totally stop for now?

    Hi Wilders Folks,

As you know a beta was released that makes hot restore the new default. We would really appreciate people to continue testing the beta and reporting the issues to us. We thought we knew what the issue was, but are simply unable to recreate the issue Froggie has reported.

In fact, internal testing shows the app is more stable than ever. But the findings of Froggie are not to be taken lightly so we really do encourage people to test out the beta and report the issues to us. Logs, screen shots succint descriptions of what went wrong will go a long way to making this a better app.

Do note this is a beta so do remember to use caution and backup with you chosen alternative solution.

    Thanks guys

Some time ago we were told that all the devs efforts would be directed to AXTM and that once this was working well attention would be focused on RealCopy so you are correct, dev of RC is, for the time being (I believe) on hold.

So, how do we start a new chain of backups?
Do we uninstall the existing version, then install this version?

Too many problems with v2. I understand it's beta. I guess you can call if beta forever.
I would hope by this time you would have provided a more stable version of v2.

mine got stuck during a restore last night with the new beta. rebooted and happened again and i ended up restoring from a ifw image and re-installed the previous "stable" version and tried again and it worked.

I have done 6 hot restores and 1 cold and can not get the beta to fail. Even tried a hot restore during an active defrag. So far it has been perfect. My backups are stored on a bitlocker drive which hasn't been an issue. So the issues must be caused by a particular hardware software combination.

    So this works for me
windows 8.1 x64 pro with bit locker and file encryption
Dexpot virtual desktops ( all short cuts on 6 desktops restored correctly)
    sabertooth intel motherboard
    6 gig memory
    2 SSD 3 hard drives

For me, I just used a new destination folder. That way you can always go back to the original backup

Hi Hadron, I create an archive folder for the "retiring" chain (labeling it such); then AXTM can backup to the usual folder. When it sees no prior images, that's the new chain starter.

Have been supplied with a new v2 beta that is now working on my system, but I did find hot restore very slow compared to v1.

It should be able to do that with the beta that was made available for downloading earlier this week.
