Yes, it was quite heavy in my testing but it has been years since I have installed it. It uses two engines, not sure what they are anymore. I could not find that info on their website. I think it used to be Kaspersky and Avast at one time, can't verify that now.

They use Bitdefender, and their own engine "CloseGap" I believe it's called. That was the case last I heard.

Good Afternoon! Mortal! You should download G-Data and take it for a test Drive. It is as stated Heavy on certain System's! With two Engines...though I've found it to be Super Effective in Protection and Detection. Those to me are the Most Important Parameters to judge an Effective Security App By. As I've previously stated it needs at least 4 gigs of Ram...most new PC's have that loaded as standard now a days. It also has in the Internet Security Suite...a Banking Guard and Keylogging Protection Feature. It updates itself with Bitdefenders Signatures on an hourly basis. And most importantly it has an American Office in Atlanta. I've found the 2015 Version to be much lighter and not as system taxing as previous versions. So forget the Naysayers...and as stated try the thirty day Trial Period. You have to try it to see how it responds with your system...and most importantly your Impressions in Using it on your System. Sincerely...Securon

Found it heavy, and laced with false positives.

One more voice for saying it being heavy.

    What Securon said.

In my household, we have 6 different AVs running (I like using different ones..). And G-Data is pretty darn good..

I have not noticed heaviness nor false positives. YMMV.

    Trust in GERMAN SICHERHEIT

    That is all.

Dear Mr. Securon, unfortunately, your reply came pretty late as I avoided even testing it due to the "heavy" comment posted before. So I tried F-Secure and liked how light it is and bought a 2 year license already

Same here as Securon, never found it heavy or had one false positive. Been using it for around 7 months now and happy to renew when the year is up

You can find tests in http://www.av-test.org/ , it is a good security tool as many other leading antimalware tools.
As for any of these tools, you need to install, test it and see if its works to your expectations on the system.

At the end of the day its just a matter of taste (and local configuration) as any of the top listed products will provide you with good protection.

Good Morning! Best of luck with your choice of F-Secure. Excellent Product...I gave it a test drive last yr...and the pricing was expensive as opposed to competitors products. So....in summation; hope everything is smooth sailing for you and F-Secure. Sincerely...Securon

yes it is, look to the home tests for the different OSs. It may be not listed under all OSs and months.

thanks bro, enjoying it so far, usually within 48 hours any quirks would appear to me but this one sits there silently and not giving me any issues, slowdown, etc.

Yeah, G-Data is under the radar of most here.

I first took notice a few years ago when G-Data was all of a sudden at or near the top of various AV ratings/rankings.

They have rapidly developed and improved their products in the last few years.

And you are right... they always seem to respond pretty quickly.

I installed it yesterday Frank (still have a license) and was surprised...it seems to run lighter now (when browsing) than 6 months ago. Quite impressive! I have no doubts about it's ability to perform.

Yep Rompin, G-Data is a performer. I like how the product has and continues to rapidly evolve and improve.

The combination of the BitDefender engine with their proprietary engine is very effective.

Some products are moving down: Panda, AVG, F-Protect..

And Some products are moving up: Trend, Norton & G-Data..

G-Data has been trending up for a couple of years now. The best is yet to come.

Little Known AV Trivia: G-Data is credited with being the creators of the worlds first AV.
