CCleaner v5.0 is now available in Beta!

After months of design, development and testing we are very excited to announce that CCleaner v5.0 is available to download in Beta!

CCleaner v5.0 sees a change with a redesigned, modern interface. The current interface you know and love has remained largely the same since its first release almost 10 years ago, so we decided it was time to give it a fresh new look!

Our design team have worked hard to bring CCleaner up-to-date while making sure it still felt like the same tool that our hundreds of millions of users love. We are extremely happy with the result, and we hope you are too!

For advanced users we have a beta version of CCleaner v5 available for you to download. (We don't recommend using this outside of test environm

Yes I can see that in the screenshot, but it looks quite similar so no harm done I guess. I will not install right away but wait to hear from other testers first....

But no word on which OS's that are supported that I can see only a download link?

I installed v5.00.00.5035 Beta on top of v4.19.0.4867 without incident and thankfully all previous settings were retained. A native 64-bit file was executed on my W7 x64 system where you will find the new application has grown in size by about 10%.

No obvious or apparent changes seem to have been made to the underlying engine, and this is a very good thing.

However, the changed GUI seems a bit harder for older eyeballs to read. At least things are still where they were in v4.19

So overall it might be nice, for some, if an option was available to switch between the two GUIs.

    Cheers.

This build includes just the interface change. The other features will be coming over the next week, with a final release build at the end of the month.

    I like the new GUI.
And I think it opens quicker.

I still won't be using this, as I usually don't want to clean any usage history and the standard Disk Cleanup included with Windows works well enough for me.

It also has a good manager for Startups, BHOs and automated tasks.

I agree. And we can just uncheck the stuff we don't want to get cleaned. If you want to keep the history then just uncheck it etc etc...

I usually only use Glary Utilities (with auto-tasking), and Kerish Doctor. I installed this, ran it, and it found only 70MB of stuff to clean up. So it appears Glary and Kerish are doing the job just fine.

Although if I want a really deep clean I install CCleaner, and CCEnhancer. HUGE difference CCEnhancer makes.

CCEnhancer is a pain to use. besides I see no point in it, CCleaner does more than enough.

How is it a pain? Just run it, then it executes CCleaner, then checkbox everything.. Then you never have to run CCenhancer again if you don't want. It can remove 2, 5, even 10 times more crap than CCleaner does stock. I've pulled 6GB of crap off a system using CCenhancer after CCleaner had already been executed.

Or to Spotify. I have a few gigabytes cached on my computer even though I don't have a bandwidth cap.

When will this flat style fade out, so ugly.
I blame ms for the "metro look"
    Please fade fast.

Note, off 'a' system.. Did I say mine? No.

I love the flat style, glad the last holdouts not moving to it are finally moving to it.

Yes, the flat style is quite nice, but most of them suck at contrast. White everywhere, small fonts, not a clear where it starts and where things are ending.

No issues on Windows 8.1 x64 but as they stated nothing new but the UI at this point. Whatever new features are coming will probably be a surprise in an upcoming build. I'm still waiting to see if/when they stop offering a free version. It's a nice piece of software but doesn't offer anything I would be willing to pay for. Too many other free options and worst case I could develop a similar product myself.

Instead of forcing a squint inducing UI on us, and telling us "it's modern", hopefully they'll include an option to choose a darker, more eye friendly skin.
