@pegas, new version is ready: http://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/release-notes.html#android-1.0.631
Thanks for the heads up. The problem solved! The browsing speed is back. Well done. Activated Premium and everything's alright. Thanks a lot
That nice , i hope this version solve the issue when try top open a link inside gmail and adguard block it....if not .. where i report this bug?
In my case links inside Gmail are clickable and bring me to a browser. If you want report, open adguard gui and in options choose send feedback.
Yes , in this version the "gmail issue" seems to be solved... all works perfect in my side (atm ) Thanks
The new splash screen in adguard for android is ugly and obtrusive. Sorry I didn't understand it's sense.
Wow, you are the only person who don't like it soo much. Maybe it's rendered wrong on your device? Could you please show a screenshot of it? We need splash screen because of poor performance of lots of Android devices. It's very often when user sees partially loaded main screen (action menu and background with nothing on it). For me it is much more ugly than splash screen. Splash screen allows us to preload view elements.
It has nothing to do with rendering. It's OK. However now I understand the reasons. Anyway it doesn't mean I will like it. I hate whatever splash screens.
Again today updates of filters are failing. I experienced it already yesterday. On android you cannot close app. You have to shut down its process.
I cannot even send you a feedback message via gui. Something on your side is broken. Please check it and get it corrected.
i had the same problem this afternoon. was not able to complete update process. had to shutdown the process from overview..(updated to lollipop today)
This thread is entitled "Adguard for Chrome open beta test". Could we move the Android discussion to a separate thread?
@avatar Why Adguard has been withdrawn from Google Play? Furthermore, you have released an update (*.apk) yesterday with allegedly improved battery consumption. Are you really sure it's better? After update I lost 10% of battery within hour of browsing while with the previous build I was losing only 5%.
@pegas About Google Play: http://blog.adguard.com/en/news/google-removes-adguard-android-app-google-play.html What for beta version, we are still working on the battery usage. From the one side we've improved proxy CPU usage, from the other side we now filter HTTPS traffic and this means that we now have two proxy servers instead of one
OK, thanks for the link. Frankly, I was surprised that Google ever allowed you to enter their store with an application that filters ads. Fortunately we have a standalone installation ;-) As concerns the battery usage, I understand it's tricky. However CPU and battery usage should be the top aim, obviously apart filtering capabilities, otherwise it will destroy all your effort to have a best ads filtering tool. Believe that it is really a significant difference in battery usage against the previous build.
Its bad to see to get it removed from playstore.. @avatar, i see adguard not working when data connection is active. Using Local VPN Mode. And on Lollipop, Nexus 4. Is this expected behavior? I will reinstall standalone version as suggested in the blog later today..
Please note: any posts concerning Adguard for Android should be posted in the new thread located here. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/adguard-for-android.370671
Chrome extension (even beta) has not been updated pretty long (last December). Does it mean that its development has stalled (at least until AFW v6 will be ready)?
No, v2.0 is almost ready. It is a major release, so we have a lot to do besides programming: preparing a big post about new features of v2.0, doing some performance tests, updating a website.
Sweet! Thanks for keeping us informed. BTW, do you already know when v2 will be released in the beta channel?
