Thanks, a belated end to one of the many idiocies in W8.

 

I created a USB Flash drive in a laptop with Windows 8.1 Update. The process worked well, it took about 1.5 hours (15+ min. in the last 10% of the last step, "Creating the USB Flash drive").

I haven´t actually try an installation, some doubts remain:

Does it work in an OEM computer? That is, does it read automatically the activation key embedded in the firmware?
Does it install 8.1 Update?

 

Indeed, why would they make it simple to use something you'd already purchased....!
