Not sure which popups you are talking about, exactly, but if you mean the twice-daily "virus database has been updated" toasters (+ audible alerts), these have been removed from Avast 2015. Thanks, Vlk
Good morning vlk. I mean the popups which tell me to install grimefighter, to install browser toolbar, to install secureline, to install ... There is a reason why I don't install them, I don't need them.
Though setting for it is still present in the "Update" section (where it used to be before). Or is that now dedicated to program updates only?
These have also been substantially reduced in v2015 as well. Program update only. In other words, the "virus update toasters" are now completely gone - after about 10 years and becoming sort of a signature feature for Avast. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this myself - but I understand they were kind of non-standard, to say the least. Cheers, Vlk
Yeah, the vocal updates announcement certainly was iconic. We all remember that wrestling show where it announced the update through commentator computer or even in Youtube comedy like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN38y5MILbs It's in French, but it's the first scetch and it's really funny. And yes, avast! was used for it.
