It has System Optimizer from the Complete version which the AV only does not have but the same WSA engine and we all know that WSA is the lightest AV/AM anyways and the same installer it's just the keycode turns on certain features and yes why not target Gamers as well it is a business after all have a look here: https://twitter.com/WebrootGaming

Hasn't been pushed out to my area yet - guess I could just download the installer and not whine about it :) By the way, what's new?

Sure just download and install over top and I know it does not ask to but it's best to reboot to set the new drivers, files and such.

I purchased and use SecureAnywhere™ AntiVirus for PC Gamers. I got it last week and so far love it. I have used all of the big internet security suites in the past. I couldn't believe they were offering this package for $19.99. It has AV, Identity Protection, Firewall, and a VERY basic tuneup utility. I am an avid gamer and I can tell you, this takes almost no resources at all to run. Oddly, if you call them, SecureAnywhere™ AntiVirus for PC Gamers isn't promoted or supported on site. I got the impression that it was private label or is somehow being advertised and distributed separate from their other software. It cannot be found on their site. No wonder. It costs less and does more.

Yes, I know it is posted here http://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/products/gamer-av
But if you list their products, it is not mentioned elsewhere. Like here http://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/products/pc
Is SecureAnywhere™ AntiVirus for PC Gamers exactly the same as Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus? I assumed they were different. Maybe I am wrong.

Yea I know but it is shown on the Drop Down for Home Products. And Dermot added what the Gamer version has over the AV version!

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

How does the optimizer differ from the optimizer in WSA A/V ?

They are saying Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus doesn't have an optimizer.

    Ummm.

LOL: I Screwed up. I bought the gaming edition on Amazom, received a license that was labeled for the gamer's edition.

But, when installed and activated it the GUI looked like the standard WSA A/V interface and hovering over the tray icon it just said WSA

There were no words anywhere to indicate that it was the gamer's edition, but it did have an "optimizer" which is really misnamed. It's a cleaner

The description given for the Gaming Version states :

    "Optimize Your Gaming System

Our System Optimizer analyzes devices and operating systems to detect system issues for optimal performance, wipes away all traces of online activitiy, and makes deleted files unrecoverable."

To a gamer, a cleaner is not an optimizer. As far as I'm concerned a function that only cleans away internet browsing tracks is not an optimizer - it's a cleaner. I don't see where it detects what are commonly known as system issues.

I complained to Amazon for selling me the A/V and not the Gaming Edition and they issued a refund.

I think it would be more appropriately named WSA A/V with Cleaner. It's not a function I would sell to a gamer as an "optimizer" and to market it as being tailored to gamers'

I don't see where it "analyzes devices and operating systems to detect system issues for optimal performance" In addition to wiping internet tracks. Does it and how?

Definitely an old-style Webroot and not a Prevx style of marketing. It's a joke.

They should be satisfied with being able to claim WSA is a great anti-malware solution for gamers because it has little or no effect on the speed of your system instead of it;s current marketing strategy.

As you can tell I wasn't a big fan of the old Webroot. Many of it's utility products were inferior.

Correct it's all the same download and the keycode turns on the features you paid for nice and simple! But if you would like to make a suggestion to add nicer graphics to the Gamer version I will Kudo it for you? Just create a new Idea: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Ideas-Exchange/idb-p/Ideas

    Thanks,

    Daniel :)

It's more than the graphics--it's the claims it makes about gaming optimization. Yeah, fewer files on your drive is a plus but if you go to a gamer forum and call that an optimizer you'll be called a troll. Sorry.

You can download the free standalone System Analyzer here: http://www.webroot.com/us/en/business/resources/analyzer mthat comes only in the Complete version but note mosts things it comes up with there isn't much you can do anything about like low grade CPU or needs more RAM when you can't upgrade.

The fact is that all WSA products are gamer's editions because of it's speed, low impact, and unobtrusiveness.
