I have been using 360IS for 9 months and now i'm two weeks on Total security, but at first when it came out i was very sceptical about TS.... now starting to like it, if you don't like the clean/speed-up don't use it ;)

I don't care about cleaning-speed up features. As Spokesman said, if you don't like them, just don't use. What I really dislike in 360 Total Security is the fact that Avira definitions always lag behind.
I checked today and I have:

    Virus Database File
    Version: 7.11.178.210
    FUP: 1
    License date: 15.10.2014
    VDF date: 15.10.2014
    Minimum engine: 7.9.4.32
    Signatures: 7306764
    Required linked VDF: 7.11.178.189
    Source: 7.11.178.210
    Compiler: 1.5.0.4

So it's still at 15/10!! That delay of a week for me is unacceptable.
It's true that its cloud engines are very strong, but they shouldn't advertise about Avira engine if they don't care about updating it at least once per day.

Or you can have a custom installer like Avast and choose not to install that added FLUFF. Hopefully these Chinese will have the intelligence to do that at some point. :thumb:

I, for one, am happy they choose to support it longer than expected.
It gives popularity, popularity gives threat sensors, threat sensors give detection, detection give quality, quality give popularity, rinse and repeat :)

I like more its hips and heur over its detection which is superb of course.

"they choose to support" sounds a bit too optimistic for the maintainance we have now, sorry

Meanwhile, another beta for 360TS came out this week. Again, the writing is on the wall. No need to keep those candles lit.

I just remembered that I used threat fire's level 4 long time ago. Such control, what to allow, what to deny, analyse, suspect, etc.... :)
Nowadays, I like silent but deadly..... Like my women....
Well, a while ago there was chatting that Qihoo choose to kill IS. Everything went haywire...
Anyway, my job of begging and pleading are over, now all I have to do is provide support if I can, bring over user concerns/wishes/etc... to Q360, and
hope more and more people are using it due to loving it, rather than having to use it.
I hope I am up to the task, so far I believe I've been doing it okay-ish... it could be worse :)

I don't see that writing on the wall that way.
I see it more like: "Well, those folks want IS with something new and creative, let's talk, plan, design, test and distribute something to them, that should be as good as it is now, stable and "it just works".
    You can't rush perfection :)

    Here's something to think about:
The update to the application will be releasede soon in the near future.

Great news :thumb:. Does it really cost them anything to provide a cut down version of something they already have (TS)? I don't see why they can't offer IS & TS if the demand is there and right now they can see that there is.

    That's the spirit!!! :thumb:
Perhaps they calculate to divert IS development resources to TS all the way, increasing release cycle, more features, who knows....
Doesn't matter, it is here to stay and kick some malware butt! :ninja:
Thanks, appreciate the words of support!
    That should be interesting.... :shifty:

I really do not understand the whole "hype" about 360 IS /TS...

"...more engines to be used as one wish ,Avira and BD" why exactly do you need more engineso_O Avira itself has a detection rate of 99.9% and Bit Defender 99.7%; combining these two you are not going to get 101.00%

Have you ever asked yourself 'What if?"....
There is no support for 360IS/TS in ANY language , their forum on THEIR Facebook page is dead, does this look like a trustworthy software to youo_O?

Do not get exited that the detection rate is high, you can get the same result with Avira Free or Bit Defender free, well known AV's.

As a side note , I used MSE for almost two years and I never got infected....

Lol don't talk about avira free, no proactive defense, their cloud of 99.9 should be around 20 % because its zero day detection is not that good.... besides all the crap in avira with their Online essentials, ads and nagging ... no way!
As for BD free, very buggy AV, makes computer slow .....

Avira engine and BD are extra layer in detection.

Everyone got his own taste ....

I don't know what the case is with Avira, but antiviruses using Bitdefender's scan engine doesn't have the same detection rate as Bitdefender itself. Also it is only 360 Total Security which has Avira's scan engine.
That is irrelevant to me. The only time I ever actually contact support is if a program isn't working. In which case, more often than not I just change to a different program rather instead of contacting support to get help. But with 360, it simply works very well, so I have no need for support.
Bitdefender is not an option to me for the following reasons. 360 IS runs much lighter than Bitdefender and just about all other antiviruses on my laptop, meaning that it does not slow down my computer. I can configure 360 to prompt me for what action I want to take when a threat is found meaning that absolutely nothing is quarantined autoamtically. This is not a big deal for some, but it is for me as I will not use any antivirus which automatically handles threats.

Or to put it simply, Bitdefender free will slow down my computer and automatically handle threats, whereas 360 Internet Security won't. I can't really comment on Avira as I have not used it for a long time and have probably used over 40 different antiviruses since then, making is hard for me remember how what I thought of any one particular antivirus.

Ehm... did you ever try Avira? Avira is just using their Cloud and Signatures. What do you do if you download zero day malware? Avira won't do anything because there is no proactive security. Qihoo, on the other side, has 2 engines which are based on signatures which are FREE AND a good proactive security system. It is like HIPS but not that annoying and it has a sandbox. It is much harder to bypass Qihoo.

Last time I tried 360 IS back in the spring of this year I had about six false positives on first scan. Tried it again last night, and the scan was just getting started. and the cloud engine flagged rundll32. I stopped the scan immediately, and uninstalled it. Cloud engine said rundll32 was unknown, and should not be running at start up.

    In theory you are right!
I used Avira for several years, MSE on another computer and now NOD32. How many time did you get infected ,in real life, with a "zero day" malwareo_O
NOD 32 updates every hour , so is more likely to get a signature update for that "zero day" than for that "zero day" to reach your computer.

An AV which scans your computer has access to a lot of information (some sensitive!) and is very important to know who is on the other end of the antivirus.

Just because the candy is bigger, you shouldn't accept it from a stranger:):):)
