I have absolutely no clue what you are going on about there. May I suggest next time you take a few minutes to compose your posts in to something that makes sense. According to you the information both @GakunGak and I provided is rubbish when in fact it is pure fact. You asked why the BitDefender engine in IS was set as disabled and we answered you.

I just found 360 three days ago and I chose to install 360IS and NOT 360TS because I see it as bloatware and useless fluff. How can you call it Total Security without a Firewall is just ridiculous. I already have Comodo FW, CCleaner Pro, Advance System Care 7 Pro so I don't need any more cleaners or speedups. I hope they continue with IS because I just want a good A/V that is basic and light. If they let no longer update the IS definitions and only offer TS without a custom installer I'll go back to using Avast Pro which I have been using for the last 2 years. I don't see why they can't continue to offer both. There are 4 versions of Avast (free,Pro,IS,Premier) and they have custom installers. I used Pro because I didn't want anything I.S or Premier had to offer. Long live 360IS and I'll keep watching this thread.:thumb:

This Antivirus is the Number-One contender on the block. There are plenty of antivirus products on the web and you might have your own favorites. Earlier this year, 360 Security came from nowhere to beat most of the top rated antivirus products that's been there for a long time now. The product has been getting rave reviews from all quarters by independent labs and users alike. ..http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/antivirus-number-one-contender-block.htm

I've tested this a month ago and it seems pretty light.

Does this still require Administrator rights?

I was using TS but have now returned to IS due to the bloated nature of TS and the lack of any type of control over what it does.

Would IS be OK to run together with WSA.

Unfortunately, yes. After reboot it prompts UAC to run GUI.

I would be extremely reluctant to install either 360IS or 360TS on my computers....
While both IS and TS look and behave like an AV with good detection, the lack of support /forum , never seen any other AV is puzzling..

One may believe that the only purpose is to lure an user into installing, for various other reasons. Seems like there is no desire of maintaining a certain user in the pool, while the installation is done .

    I may be wrong.

I'm running 360 Internet Security again, and love it. It's evident that a lot of thought has been put into the the design of the user interface, which is a good thing, but something that often doesn't happen with AV software. Developers often just seem to be concerned about detection rates while ignoring the user interface.

Some of the things I really like about 360 are:
The protection level can be changed to give less protection and reduce system load. In my case, I always value lightness ahead of protection.

When a threat has been detected, you are given the option to ignore that file and exclude it from future detections (e.g. for false positives or PUP detections). This is so much better than the traditional way of having to manually add files to ignore. What is awesome about this too is that by default, if the file is ever modified, it will be scanned again.

360 can prompt you when a threat is found, rather than resolving threats automatically if you want. A feature that all security software should have, in my opinion.

All in all it is a very polished product and it is great that it is free. The proactive protection is a nice feature too, but one I disable as only want to be prompted when an actual threat is found, rather than being prompted as well whenever a possibly harmful behaviour is detected.

360's other antivirus, Total Security product does not even come close to this. The antivirus component has very limited configuration options, and the cleaning and optimisation features are are pretty weak compared to what's on offer in Baidu's PC Faster. As to why they would want to possibly abandon 360 Internet Security is a mystery to me.

IMHO, IS is also better than TS.

The Chinese version of 360IS keeps updating new features and has both BD & Avira engines:

^^^Yes I see the Chinese is at V5.0 and the English version is at V4.9 but we just may get V5 at some point. Just 2 weeks ago when I downloaded 360IS it was version 4.9.0.4902B now it's 4.9.0.4902D so it must be getting updated.

The future does not look good for 360 IS. From MalwareTips:
Hopefully they will keep up with the database updates and fixes and don't decide to drop it all together.

Correct. The letter after the version number indicates the database of signatures.

Since 360 have moved their focus onto 360 Total Security, presently there are only very minor updates being released to 360 Internet Security currently. Also, quite probably within around 6 months, support will be dropped for 306 Internet Security altogether, leaving us with just Total Security which it would seem that many users of 360 IS (just like me) do not like, and will switch to another security vendor if this happens.

Who cares that in 6 months they will let it be.In 6 months so many things can happen.
BD engine updates itself regularly so again i don t see the problem.
Better than Avast by far in many aspects and you get a sandbox and a reg cleaner plus there is no damned registration needed.
You just install it and works and it feels much easier in spite of the 3 engines than Avast.
Even the machine starts faster ,be it laptop or desktop.

The point is that after 6 months, it may not be able to download definition updates anymore.

That is a mystery. A quick Google search reveals that version is the Chinese one, which I thought was only available in Chinese language. There is a version 5 beta of the English version but it has not been updated for some time and is not the product shown in the picture.

I'm downloading it now from the URL shown in the image: sd.360.cn but expect to get a Chinese only version.

If I remember well, I read somewhere that this is indeed the chinese version but with the interface translated in english. It was made just to let av-comparatives test it, but it is not available for customers.

That explains it. The installer is in Chinese.
