Did the reviewer forget that VS Free is a free, simple computer lock? ;). Some people want it simplified, some people want it to be complicated, I guess you cannot please everyone. Actually, I think it was a good review, maybe VS would get 4 or 5 stars if we made the Pro version free, who knows ;). But I will say, I think the reviewer was looking at VS from his perspective, and not from the perspective of the end user, who would typically not have as much experience with computers. I guess he doesn't realize that we need to lock our computer when it is at risk, especially less advanced users.

I will enable the User Log / Edit Snapshot functionality and post it tomorrow, that actually is a good point. It will be helpful because VS is going to be reviewed by a professional security reviewer next week, and this is helpful because I can add that feature before it is reviewed. If we get 3 stars with that review, then VS is a 3 star product, one star for each year I worked on it ;).

It's cool, we will see how the professional security review comes out. Then again, I might regret saying that ;). If VS gets 3 stars or less, I will post the source code on GitHub, sell my house, buy an RV and travel ;). I think the review was good overall, and he did have a good point about the userlog / snapshot, but I agree, it was kind of hot air and fluff. What some reviewers do not seem to realize is that people spend 60-80 hours a week, working for free for 3.5 years, then they install the product, use it for 10 minutes and write a review to post on their blog, so they can make advertising dollars. Then they post a 3 star review, and basically kills the whole project. That is why it needs to be professionally evaluated by a security expert, and that is going to happen next week or the week after. That is the review I will respect.

As for the comments at the end, they are just ignorant. Can someone please correct them? I mean, some of the things they say are opinions, but some of the things they say, like VS 2.0 not working with 8.1? Let me correct him... the beta did not work with any OS ;). And yes, it took almost a year to develop, and yes, I am not a professional developer, let alone a security developer ;). I always hire new developers but they get frustrated because VS is quite simply extremely difficult to work on with the toggling, multithreading and all of the things that make VS user friendly, so they typically do not last long. But I can promise you this... put VS up against ANY AV product under real world conditions, and it will do very, very, very well. If I had to guess, I would almost think that LittleBitch is up to is old tricks again... it does look like his writing.

BTW, the software is the same between Pro and Free. But when a user registers VS, this unlocks the settings screen, the set password feature and the corporate / enterprise cloud based features. It used to also unlock the UserLog / Edit Snapshot feature, but I am going to include that in the new version and release it soon. It also has a Reset Whitelist button on it. Thank you!

Edit: BTW, ghacks reviewed my product, so this is my review of their product ;).

Yeah, unfortunately that is out of my hands, but thank you for letting me know! Actually, the VS 2.11 installer had at least one false positive too.

I know, I would like to add this feature... but the second I add this feature, some blogger is going to write a 10 minute review, and complain that the user can easily mess up and click the wrong thing and become infected ;).

    Hey Daniel,

The tray icon for VS has gone missing! ...for the moment. But, not to worry VS is guarding the fort! ;) But, I just got Opera showing in the tray, and I don't how/why. LOL

Maybe with all of the software you have on your machine, maybe you maxed out the systray ;).

I have to disable my protection quit often due to false positives. VS has been blocking flash player from checking for updates on my machine for about a month now. Maybe you could make the option to allow false positives disabled by default in the settings. That's only a thought.

Oh, I know, I am joking ;). Yeah, there are a few programs like Opera that insists on being Always On Top, just like VS does so they kind of fight each other. I doubt there is anything that can be done, but I will look into it.

Thanks for the Pro license.....just a minor hiccup with 2.11.....above the task bar the VS shield shows fine, but it takes 2 boots for the shield to show up in the task bar then all is fine....no biggie though.....

    Thank you.

Is there any comparison table re the Pro-free? I can't find the differences between the two versions.

    Suggestion for popup text:
Change it to "Possible threat has been detected" for lower VT detections.
Current text can remain for higher detections.
Just decide what the threshold should be...

Yeah, we can think about doing that, but what about zero days / brand new viruses? To me, it is always better to error on the side of caution. If a file has any malicious code at all, it should be investigated before running. But let's brainstorm and see what we come up with. Thank you!

BTW, this should work, and you should be able to add another year to your license. If not, please let me know ;). I am going to bed, it has been a rough 3.5 years ;). Thanks again!
