I got a ton of false positives from the webfilter, and had to disable it.

Yeah the webfilter should be renamed to Internet Blocker, heck even sites likes Media Fire and a cinema site I often visit and SVP (smooth video project) were all blocked! I wonder who gave that guy who is responsible for adding sites to the webfilter the job? Seems like he likes to adds legit sites left and right to the block list just for fun to show his boss he is doing some work.

ah gotcha i normally dont run the web filter add on personally so i dont see the sites blocked. i was speaking strictly about the av itself.

The problem is bro, when an AV gives a lot of FPs, then when you actually get a virus, you sit and wonder, hmm, is this really a virus or an FP and have to scan it with something else and submit it to VirusTotal.com to ensure if it's clean or not. At first it was ok and I was actively contributing on their forums and reporting files left and right. Then I got tired of this, I have better things to do in my life, if I install an AV, I want to set it and forget it and know for a fact that if a suspicious file was caught, I really have to worry not sit and wonder.

Whatever works for you or others that may be enjoying Webroot but for me, Webroot and Emsisoft Anti-Malware with their behavioral blocker are worse than actually getting infected with a virus since they come in your daily workflow and interrupt you.

    just my 2 cents worth

I need a help, actually not for me but for my friend. I installed WSA Antivirus on her laptop and she forgot the access control password. Anyone have a quick solution to this?

Not the my account password, she forgot the password for WSA access control in the settings, the password protection for the program itself.

Submitted ticket, anyway after submitting the title bar shows the page title "PVXSUP-something" for a few seconds, I noticed this before too. Guess because of the shared coding of the prevx era?

When were you having that problem and what kinds of files were being flagged? I've been using WSA for a couple of years and have had only a couple of false positives.

Same here. Only a few false positives within the last few years.

True there have been a number of issues with FPs but then one gets that with any new feature and the WTF is relatively new.

Over in the Community we are seeing very, very many less issues about this than previously...so it looks like the wrinkles are being worked out and the feature is coming into its own...I would recommend that you try it again rather than casting dispersions based on old information. People should at the very least try it and be guided by even handed and objective rather than subjective comments.

Just one of the many complaints I had when I used Webroot:

    https://community.webroot.com/t5/We...us/Tired-with-FALSE-POSITIVES/m-p/87872#M5543

And this one here is an absolute joke, Google.com reported as a suspicious URL:

    https://community.webroot.com/t5/We...irus/Too-many-false-positives/m-p/45750#M2135

Someone needs to fire the guy who is sitting behind this web filtering

yeah maybe now, but at the time I was using Webroot it was blocked. Heck, almost 80% of the sites I visit (legit sites) were blocked. That included MediaFire.com where I had the link to download the ASUS Merlin Firmwares for my router ( ASUS Merlin Firmwares )

Errrrr...last post on the first one is ‎07-07-2014 08:42 AM - edited ‎07-07-2014 08:49 AM & on the second one is ‎07-20-2013 08:18 AM so hardly very current and if I am honest, smacks of just flogging a dead horse for the sake of doing so rather than being objective.

No insult intended I assure you but in the same vein I think that there are a lot of us who are getting quite tired with what looks like misinformed hammering of Webroot for something that is at best historical and at worst not an issue to the majority at least now, accepting that there may well have been a bad problem in the past and that there remains a minor issue currently...but then again I could point out any number of AVs/ISs that have some FPs.

At least if bringing info into the conversation lets have current or relatively current information...if not then please, respectfully asked, change the record?

Hello bro :D......"almost 80%" of legit sites blocked for you? You wouldn't be 'exaggerating' a little there would you, lol? And much of your 'references' are from quite some time ago, and you clearly cannot see replications of your individual experiences at that time, if you look at the Community board.

You are also fully aware of the efficient reporting and fixing service available, but prefer to moan on about your individual, and not usual/widespread/common experiences for other WSA users :thumbd:

I know guys, I know these threads are old and "maybe" these FPs are no longer there. But the fact remains, when I used Webroot, it drove me nuts with numerous FPs either the web filtering thing or actual files. The good thing about them is that they quickly whitelist files but I stopped using it because my time is very valuable I'd rather choose an AV with no or less FPs. I still have my 3 year license and I am not dissing Webroot, I think it's great because it is the lightest of all AVs I've tried. But at the time I tried it, it caused me more headaches than I'd expect. So great if it's working out for any of you, just wanted to state my experience not more ;)

If you do not need that license, you can send me the key to PM.
    I will use it.
