    Hi Dan

v2.07 Mk II seems to be behaving...however, I am getting the odd moment when everything seems to be blocked invisibly...but I just cannot reproduce it at will...rather it comes and goes periodically, and not very often at that, especially when trying to install software. Will try a few double checks tomorrow if I have time...but other than that potential wrinkle everything looks good.

    Regards, Baldrick

The bug I was experiencing with the Web Apps tab appears to have been fixed now with 2.07. I have been using 2.07 for about 3 days now without any problems.

Very cool, thank you everyone for letting me know! Baldrick, if you can pinpoint that issue, please let me know! I still have to figure out the cmd / run as admin on Windows 8 issue, and also a small issue in Windows XP where the service (and gui) takes a while to load on windows startup. Then I think we are good to go!

I'm still using 2.07, and about the only thing VS records in the User Log is Firefox.exe. I can launch most of the applications on my machine, and VS records nothing in the user log. I'm using Windows 7X64 Ultimate.

Hmmmm, I never noticed that, thank you for letting me know, I see what you mean. It will be super easy to fix, I should have it fixed tonight or in the am.

Here is the latest version. Hopefully the cmd run as admin is fixed, and the rest of the silent blocking, and also the XP slow boot issue. So hopefully the only thing left are the logs, and that will be easy. Thank you!

I will update to 2.10 later tonight, or tomorrow. I'm still working on replacing the data I lost on a project of mine that I was telling you about. I have added a lot of material that I did not have before, but I just want to get it done so I can spend more time studying. I'm going back to school in the spring semester, and I only need 5 classes to have a degree in Networking. I like about the same having a degree in Spanish as well. Surely I will have more career options then.

I see the option to allow, or deny all files within a specific folder in VS's settings. I don't see an option to allow a specific file without allowing everything else in the folder it is located in. Maybe an option to only allow a specific file would be useful for some users. Only allowing a single file would prevent drive by downloads from executing in the folder containing the white listed executable. I was going to use this option to allow some executables that I have false positives with. I'm looking forward to trying the allow anyways option for false positives though.

Sounds great... you might want to wait until tomorrow sometime so I can fix the user log. And I also thought the cmd run as admin was fixed, but it isn't. But I figured out what was wrong. It will be pretty easy to fix, but it is going to take a little time, like a day or so. Thank you!

Once again, the cmd run as admin is not fixed yet, but it will be very soon! Along with one last silent blocking issue!

I haven't updated yet, but VS 2.07 blocks access to Keyboard, and languages. I don't remember if I was accessing Appearance and personalization, or clock, languages, and regions. I was looking for an option to change a single letter in the font when the incident occurred. The command line below belongs to Windows, and it was blocked initially. VS gave me the prompt below in the screen shot to allow it, and it worked fine after clicking allow. I think you will want to add the command line string to the white list so it does not alarm novice users. It belongs to Windows. I'm literally falling asleep at my keyboard now. I'm going to retire for the night.

    "c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe" shell32.dll,control_rundll intl.cpl,,/p:"keyboard"

Cool, thank you, I will hardwire it in. That does look a little bit different than the one that is already there, so I will just keep both.

    Hey Plamen,

Hmmm, that is odd, thank you for letting me know. I was able to reproduce it on my Windows 8.1 machine and I found an obvious bug, and now it is working great on mine. If you get a chance, would you mind uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling and rebooting again to see if it is still an issue? You might even redownload the VS installer just to make sure you have the right one. I should have named it 2.11 ;).

I assume VS is in Training, and you are right clicking on the start button and then clicking on cmd run as admin, right? I know sometimes it would take a little while for mine to act up, so I will keep checking it out. Either way, I know exactly where the problem is if there is still a problem. Thank you!

    Hi Dan

I have been running 2.07 for a couple of days now and it seems to be ok here on Win 8.1/64.

One issue I do have is that when you block a file it does not stay blocked. On next boot VS will again flag it up for blocking. Don't know if this is by design or not. Maybe since I have opted not to have the balloon pop ups it is more noticeable.

Yeah, that is the problem. Please download the following and it should work. It should say version 2.10 once it is installed. It is still working well on my 8.1 system, so hopefully it will work on yours as well! Thank you!

Hmmm, that is odd, thank you for letting me know. I tried to reproduce the issue with Deny by Default unchecked, and it seems to be working well for me on 8.1 64 bit.

So far, here is how it is designed to work, so if it is different from this, please let me know!

    If the user chooses:

Block - the file will be blocked indefinitely, basically until the user chooses Allow (or Install if the file is an installer)

Sandbox - the file will run with limited rights one time, but will not be whitelisted, and will be blocked unless the user chooses Allow (or Install if the file is an installer)

Allow or Install - The file should run and it should also be whitelisted. It should never be blocked again, unless the user resets the whitelist

If you are experiencing something other than this, can you please provide me the steps to reproduce this issue? Thank you!
