Can you tell me if it is more secure to use the client version of a mail service over the browser version. Windows Live has this option. If one is more secure over the other could somebody tell me what the reasons is. Also does one provide more user security options that can be selected that the other does not. Thank you.
No, it's no more or less secure. The client version works with an email program like Thunderbird or Windows Mail. With the browser version there's probably a website you log into to get your mail. Windows live will have the same security for either one. On your end it'll just depend on your security setup for the internet (browser version) or your email client.

I never really thought of this subject. I personally prefer web-mail, to me it's handier, on the other hand, perhaps it's time to download my most important mail to my drive, I mean what if something happens to the servers that store the mail?
I also prefer to download mails to my HD and then delete them from servers. I don't like to store them online...
Seems all the mail servers are now in the clouds. I guess third party server farms do some of the work, like Akamai. Don't know if this is so with mail servers. Apple cloud servers were just recently breached so even if the big names are the only players they are vulnerable. I suppose that MS have had their problems too. In comparison I can manage the security on my PC and I think my important and sensitive mail needs to be under my control. Going to check the security options in the client version to see what is turned on by default and what I need to consider. Privacy may also be improved with this solution. I see a need to have a web-based account too, just for the non-sensitive stuff.
What I meant is that if by mistake the mails get wiped on the server, I've lost all of my emails, so I need to make a copy of them. But I still prefer web-mail.
