Okay everyone, quick question for anyone with experience with the PIA app. I believe this is the third VPN I've tried for an extended period of time... Strong VPN was the first and then Proxy.SH. I've used em on a reconditioned Dell acting as a network with Mint as the OS as well as using the Dell with PFSense command lines later on. Well as you might imagine, at least for me, it was a continual process of tweaking and monitoring, ups and downs. At one point it dawned on me to try the PIA App and it couldn't be easier and quicker... Which is why I'm here. So like I asked first, has anyone ever had issues with the app? Speed and stability are fine so far, what I'm curious about is security. Thanks in advance!
Wow, easy guys, too much information! Bad jokes aside, I take it from the lack of, well, anything from this that no one has experience?
Here is a thread about VPNs that members are using: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/what-is-your-favorite-vpn.324627/ There is no mention of PIA so I don't know if anybody is using it...
I have no complaints about PIA. It's fast, inexpensive and has a decent selection of exits. I'm not too concerned about it being a US-based business. But maybe US residents should be. I don't use custom VPN clients, so I've had nothing to add in this thread.
I am a PIA happy user. I tried also their android app which worked great, however I do not use it often. I also use PIA on Iphone sometimes, but the connection there drops frequently.
security is fine, it all comes down to trusting strangers with your private data. they all log imo and will all sell you out if you do anything illegal
Thanks for the help guys! dogbite - I'll say it's more or less stable for me on my PC... I was just concerned about the security. Holysmoke - Guess I'm not living up to my handle... So you're essentially saying, always go by the worst case scenario... It's not as full proof as it's being billed as AND you're potentially causing yourself a big time headache by potentially sending all your personal information to a private company?!?
