Skipping a number. That's something new from MS.

Early build. Pitched towards the Enterprise side of things.

OK this is proof that M$ has totally lost it. It's kinda hard to take them serious, it doesn't make any sense to skip Win 9. We all know that Win 9 will not be revolutionary, so that could have been reserved for Windows 10. Dumb marketing decision. :thumbd:

They've lost it alright. I remember when my brother, who is a software engineer, warned me about Vista. He wouldn't upgrade from XP and made sure a laptop he bought just after Vista was released ran XP. He reckoned they were losing it then. He was right about Vista. I'll admit Win 7 is pretty good, but it's only what Vista should have been in the first place. He eventually went Window-less and started using Mac and OpenSUSE quite a while ago. I don't blame him. I see Linux and Mac in my future too.

What the... oh, my head, my heaaaad! I reject this naming as a reality. NOOOOOO!

Probably the only useful new feature that we have known so far. =V

Only time will tell if they have lost it with this new version, however, from a marketing standpoint, it places Microsoft on par with Mac OS X, as far as version numbers go. ;)

Gotta agree 100% that they have lost it, the number jump to v10 is just silly & IMHO was done to to sidestep the whole windows 8 debacle. From the blogs & videos it basically looks like update 3 for win 8.1. The virtual desktops are ripped straight from Linux & you just know that M$ will screw that up, the start menu just looks hideous with the tiles but thankfully they can be removed.

So basically 10 will be just Win 8.1 with a few extra features & not worth the version jump, M$ seem to want to forget about win 8x but seem strangely happy to keep forcing the useless features down users throats. Again it looks like they have completely ignored users feedback

Right. The version number race a la web browsers now officially begins for operating systems! (lol)

If the free upgrading offer will truly happen I will probably just upgrade to 10 nonetheless. Otherwise, skip skip skip yadi yada~

Yes. "First one to 18,849 wins!"

    Uh. Wins what?

"A date with the Veronica Lake Boytoy."

Uh. Yeah... where's the Win98SE CD now... that's already way ahead of 10...

Windows 2000 is waaay ahead of it already. =V

Can we make the window bar, taskbar, etc to be all black while the text/title bar is white in 10? I do miss that one cosmetic touch. Or if they include the Visual Studio 2013 Dark theme like that one in EMET I think I will be feeling a little better to waste another 10 to 12 hours for upgrading (and if the upgrade is free for 8.0/8.1 users of course, as I have previously stated).

It seems to me that much of what we're seeing in 10 so far is a direct response to user feedback. What feedback have they completely ignored?
