    I would also have signed because I know that clause was illegal. What a stupid experiment. They should have used a STASIesque clause. That would have made it more interesting.

    My understanding is that even quite extreme clauses in these things are legal, and in fact, no-one knows because they haven't been properly contested in court. So highlighting this issue by extreme examples is worthwhile IMO.

    I want a New Deal with internet contracts where there would be proper consumer protection legislation, and an unfair contracts clause. Preferably, a couple of standard contracts so that an individual does not have to spend months (nominally) reading every EULA and Tos. Plus a presumption in the court that you had NOT read the stuff, and that only "reasonable" clauses could be enforced.

    Right now, the internet is going to go down the pan as user trust gets continually eroded by the abuse conducted by the governments and corporations - they're destroying the market.
