Comodo offers great protection, and I love everything they give you in a free program. I'm still disappointed in the usability though. I have it installed on one of my machines, and I still often get prompts for svhost.exe and other Windows related files. I also get prompts for known safe programs. For instance I am running 360TS and CFW. I had done a "reputation scan" and any unknown I flagged as safe. Yet a day or two later I got a prompt from CFW asking about 360TS updating itself. This is an example of a widely used program, that Comodo should not be giving prompts for.

It seems Comodo was never able to come up with a effective whitelisting process. That alone is the reason I never recommend it anymore to friends or family. I'm not sure they will know how to handle the occasional prompts, or want to deal with them for that matter. Yes, CIS is a lot more user friendly than it was 2-3 years ago, but they still throw off a lot more prompts for safe programs than pretty much any other program I know of.

Strongly agree. It happens frequently that already trusted file is not so trusted anymore, due to file changes.
It used to be for frequent file changers to be set as installers, which give that file unlimited access...

Had the same problems. You've got to get to know to use the software. Unrecognized files like OpenOffice can be put into the trusted files, had to open/close the applications repeatedly but now I am OK with stable edition. I wouldn't recommend using the beta on a productive computer. Too much unknowns, but it has to be tested!

I'd wait for the viruscope to expand, sandbox to be tweaked as it should, bugs ironed out and new antivirus engine to roll out, which should be in the next version after first stable release, according to devs/mods....

Has anyone had an issue with BSOD's immediately after installing? This continues even after rebooting so it's an endless cycle. I have WSA running as the only other security product and it has never caused any issues in the past.

Is this virtual or real machine?
In virtual, not a single crash, but then again it was the only one installed... try to add whole wsa folder in trusted files if you can get into safe mode....

Yes I agree, way too many options plus way too many alerts even about Windows system and trusted apps. :)

    @ GakunGak

Thanks, I will check it out. :)

BTW, the mirrorcreator.com site is a bit tricky, it will try to make you download some .exe file with this name: COMODO_TEST_REPORT.pdf.exe, so it will look like it's a legitimate file. But in fact it's adware, I just uploaded it to VirusTotal. For example, it's flagged by Kaspersky as "HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic".

DO NOT download ANYTHING that ends with EXE. The report is in PDF format and should only be downloaded as such.

If they bother to improve it. Which unfortunately happens on very rare occasions...

GakunGak, the problem with multiple BSOD's comes up before I can F8. The default MSI motherboard background comes up first and then straight to my blue, blue heaven. I installed this beta on one of my test machines (not virtual environment) so I was able to restore one of many disk images I keep updated for these kind of issues. I'll just wait until the next beta to try it again. Thanks for the helping hand.:thumb:

Thanks, now I know that BSOD is possible even before windows starts to load. I learn something every day :)
Yeah no problem, I am going for a business trip so I should not be active until.... 16th of October...

Wow what an idiots these mods at Comodo. They yet again banned me because i rejoined with another username and asked a polite question. But because my mail had the same name i got banned yet again just because of that. When you're sweeping problems under the carpet by banning users, i already know what time it is.

I'm just terrified over their galactic fanboysm. Its like out of this world. They don't even care at all that you want the program to improve, they just get so incredibly butthurt by anything that isn't a praise and nothing but a praise for ther stupid program. And then people bitch that I'M an avast! fanboy. Haha, nice story bro.

Just don't bother with these idiots, i'll never ever use or recommend Comodo even if it had 100% detection, thanks to their moronic mods who are doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing. Great job lads.

Oh wow, they even actually protected their asses with a policy rule about this. Must be the first forum in existence to have that. I mean to actually specifically mention banning like that. They really setup the place well for their little perfect banning world. I really have to applaud them for that.
