    Hi

I recently moved from W7 to W8.1 and i am now looking for an optimizing program for it .
On 7 i used Tweaking.com`s Simple system tweaker and it changed my uptime from 1.40 to 1.10 and down time from 40 to 8- for example - but it does not make much difference on 8.1 .

So if any one knows about a good program for making 8.1 a little bit snappier i am all ears !

You don't need one, W8.1 is already optimized. System optimizers like Glary Utilities, Tune-Up Utilities, Synei System Utilities, Baidu PC Faster..etc. are snake oil if you ask me.

I tweak my system manually without using 3rd party software (except Autoruns). I usually disable unnecessary services, processes, tasks and other startup items.

    For initial tweaking you will probably have to do it manually. I am unaware of anything automated that is all that great for 8.1. I used to use SafeXP for XP, and it was remarkable. But I haven't found a good tool for automatically (and safely) tweaking new Windows 8.1 installations. One thing I do recommend is Windows Defender Uninstaller from Raymond.cc, then disable unnecessary services, tasks, etc. Then use Glary to tweak startups, etc. Set Glary for Deepscan, then Auto-Clean Daily w/options, and you should be good to go. Glary, you can find a lifetime free license to Glary Pro here;

GlaryPro is the best tool I have found for keeping things clean and tidy from that point forward.

    Hi

I guess it is to soon to find a good tweaking program for W8.1 like the Simple system tweaker from Tweaking.com even though the program from The Windows club that someone mentioned is interresting .

Programs like Glary utilities is not the kind i am looking for - anyone who thinks that has not really read and understood my first post .

The most pressing issue is the uptime which is very bad in W8 compared to W7 besides the slow internal reaction in the Os .

Way to go, being rude to the person who gave you the best advice in this thread.

The last version of Windows that could've used some optimization was Windows XP, and even then it was mostly on slower computers. Windows 7 and especially 8/8.1 require ZERO optimization.
As far as tweaking some options is concerned, why would you want to use a third party tool when 97% of its options already exist in the OS?

And how could we not have been mislead, when the title says that you are looking for an optimization program?

The original question was about programs to optimize 8.1. It wasn´ open-ended, something like "Should I optimize 8.1? If so, what tools do you recommend?"

    Don´t give unsolicited advice.

You asked for tweaks. Glary optimizes/tweaks a system.

What are you talking about 'uptime'? Technically speaking, 8.1 has the lowest crash/freeze/error rate of any Windows OS ever released, but what does this have to do with uptime? Also what do you mean 'slow internal reaction' in the OS? These sound like phrases being thrown out there randomly.

    Hi

I tried Game booster and Advanced system care`s speed up tweaks and they made the system feel a little bit faster - a nice thing about it was that the changes stayed after uninstalling the programs .

Now the overall slowness dont disturbe me - i can live with this .

It was a real surprise that everything with W 8.1 was so slow compared to W 7 after reading so much about how fast and good it was . Example - When my W7 pc was new it booted in 36s but this one with good spec`s did it in 1.40s - wow . Now it is down to 1.10s .

So thanks guy`s for the interrest - so far - if anyone has more idè`s - please post them .

I guess you have fast startup enabled to boot it up so quickly. Since I usually turn on my computer once a day I disabled it. I still have boot up time ~ 30 seconds.

    You DO NOT need one.
Unless you are part of the group of people who like to fix their computers until they're broken.

And why do you have to be so damn rude to a person who gave you an educated answer and was trying to help?
