From time to time I come across a computer where no matter what I do I cant get the dvd to boot. I notice this a bit with Windows 8 where im trying to get the Linux dvd to boot to replace windows. Any suggestions please?
Can you view the dvd in Windows Explorer (cause if not then it might be a dvd drive issue) But it sounds like http://www.zdnet.com/2013-installing-linux-on-windows-8-pc-is-still-a-pain-7000009237/
Thankyou for the link, that explained it all. The only computers Ive had a problem with are Windows 8, nothing else. Another reason to a long list of why Im really starting to hate microsoft. Not to worry though, this just makes me more determined to increase the handouts of free linux systems.
I had that problem with my laptop when I had Win 8 Preview installed (I assume Win 8 release is the same). I had to go into the BIOS settings and disable booting from every other drive or device except the dvd drive. Then, with a little coaxing, I could get it to boot off the dvd drive if the timing of things was right. It was a hassle....
